Cartwright for Congress is hiring several Field Organizers to assist in the execution of organizing efforts in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District to re-elect Congressman Matt Cartwright. We are looking for dedicated, passionate, applicants who are committed to electing Congressman Cartwright and truly believe in the power of grassroots organizing.
Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District is centered around the Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre/Stroudsburg/Hazleton area in northeastern Pennsylvania. Congressman Cartwright is running for his 7th term in Congress in another highly competitive election. Last year, Congressman Cartwright won by 2.4 points, becoming the only Democrat in the country to win a Trump district in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022. Congressman Cartwright is a constant fighter for the people of northeastern Pennsylvania by helping to lower prescription drug prices, expand passenger rail service, deliver federal tax dollars back to the people he serves, and combat the climate crisis. ** This is an entry level position- no prior political experience is required.**
Timeline: July 1, 2024- November 15, 2024
Responsibilities:
● Plan, design and execute volunteer events and information sessions across your region in PA-08.
● Train and recruit volunteers to engage in door to door canvassing, phone banking, relational organizing, and voter registration efforts.
● Maintain and grow relationships with volunteers, county parties, grassroots and grasstops organizations, and both up-ballot and down-ballot campaigns.
● Engage in direct voter contact yourself through canvassing, phone banking, and other digital organizing tools.
● Develop volunteer leadership teams to assist in the execution of get out the vote (GOTV) efforts.
● Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications (Required):
● Willingness to move to northeastern Pennsylvania. The campaign will be able to provide free supporter housing if desired.
● Strong self starter, and team player that is willing to put the team first to ensure that all members are successful.
● Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop relationships with staff, and volunteers from different backgrounds and areas of the district.
● Willingness to learn different organizing tools and technologies
● Understanding of Google Suite
● Access to a cell phone and laptop.
● Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license.
● Ability to be flexible and work long, non-traditional hours, including weekends.
● Highly organized and a strong attention to detail.
● Have a passion for getting down-ballot candidates elected.
● Dedication to building long term organizing infrastructure.
