Position: Field Organizer
Location: NY Lower Hudson Valley

Position Overview
A Local Democratic Committee in the Lower Hudson Valley is hiring a Field Organizer to support our town and county-wide Democratic candidates, and coordinate our volunteers from petitioning through our GOTV effort into November.
The field organizer will execute the county field strategy including turf cutting, staging locations, volunteer outreach and organizing, GOTV operations, and canvassing strategies.
Will work out of a central field office (with flexibility for remote execution of some daily duties)
Will report to Committee Officer in charge of Campaign Operations and Committee Chairperson
Key Responsibilities
Field Strategy & Execution
Oversee a comprehensive field plan for an exurban NYS county, including turf cutting, staging locations, GOTV operations, and canvassing strategies.
Implement metrics-driven voter contact programs (door-to-door, phone banks, texting).
Maintain systems for efficient entry, tracking, and analysis of field data.
Volunteer Engagement
Build and maintain a strong volunteer pipeline through outreach, partnerships, and community engagement.
Lead volunteer onboarding, training, deployment, and retention efforts.
Create clear leadership pathways for volunteers and fellows.
Engage with the community to create a visible campaign.
Recruit volunteers from in-person events, online sign-ups, phone calls, and texts.
Train volunteers to have high impact conversations, share stories and messaging, and take on leadership.
Support in-person action such as office events, house meetings, canvasses, phone banks, letter writing, themed messaging events, and high traffic canvassing.
Track, follow up, and coach volunteers who engage online to collect feedback.
Data & VAN Management
Oversee all field data operations and ensure accurate, timely reporting.
Possess advanced working knowledge of VAN, including building lists, creating universes, setting up events and scripts, managing user permissions, and producing actionable analytics.
Use data insights to adjust strategy, improve efficiency, and track progress toward vote goals.
Attend and lead VAN/Mini-Van training for volunteers and canvassers.
Qualifications
Strong commitment to Democratic values and enthusiasm for electing Democrats up and down the ballot.
Minimum 2 years of campaign field experience
Advanced knowledge of VAN/VoteBuilder, including backend data management.
Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and grow large teams—staff, interns, and volunteers.
Proven experience meeting ambitious voter contact goals
Exceptional organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Experience on suburban or rural campaigns.
Familiarity with labor, community, and activist groups in NYS.
Experience with relational organizing and digital organizing tools.
Spanish Language skills preferred.
