JOB DESCRIPTION

Tram Nguyen for Congress is seeking, proactive, energetic, and dedicated field organizers to 1) execute the campaign’s ballot access endeavors, 2) establish and maintain a growing volunteer base, 3) execute direct voter contact efforts, and 4) help elect the first Asian American and first immigrant to Congress in Massachusetts. Positions are available both immediately and with mid to late May start dates.

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

Volunteer Recruitment and Management

● Recruit, and manage volunteers for signature gathering, phone banking, voter registration, and canvassing events.

● Energize and mobilize existing volunteers into recurring actions/activities

● Identify likely supporters and work to convert them into new volunteers

● Organize and facilitate volunteer trainings for all direct actions and host weekly volunteer calls

● Engage in daily volunteer recruitment efforts, including but not limited to calls, Zooms, and 1:1 in person meetings

● Maintain a positive and active relationship with all volunteers

● Willingness to achieve and exceed daily and weekly metric goals for voter and volunteer outreach Direct Voter Contact

● Achieve and exceed daily and weekly metric goals for voter outreach via doorknocking, phonebanking, textbanking

● Engage in ad-hoc and deliberate persuasion conversations with undecided voters

● Host regular voter registration drives

● Maintain an active presence in community by attending local events as needed, and a willingness to be a proxy for the campaign and candidate as required

 

Ballot Access (Immediate Applicants Only)

● Orchestrate distribution of signature sheets to volunteers across and near the district

● Coordinate delivery of sheets to Town Clerks and the Secretary of the Commonwealth

● Conduct routine data collection, regularly update tracking systems, and assemble weekly reports for the Campaign Manager

● Establish and maintain signature collection “hubs” across the district at volunteer residences

● Lead and recruit for regular canvassing efforts and high–traffic signature gathering events across the district

● Ensure 2,000 verified signatures are gathered and submitted by May to the Secretary of the Commonwealth

 

Qualifications:

● Proactive team player comfortable in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment

● Great presence in person, over the phone, and on Zoom, with the ability to confidently lead a discussion or training

● Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadline

● Comfort with non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends

● Experience working with people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds

● Willingness to chip in above and beyond listed duties

● A strong commitment to electing State Rep. Tram Nguyen to Congress and a drive to contribute to the campaign’s success

● One year of campaign experience highly preferred (paid, volunteer, or internship)

● Proficiency in Votebuilder is a plus

● Candidates must have a car, a driver’s license, a laptop, and a cell phone.

 

This position is based in the Massachusetts 6th Congressional District (North Shore) and will require Massachusetts residency. In-district applicants are highly encouraged to apply. The salary for this position is $4,000 per month, with potential for promotion. The campaign offers a healthcare stipend of $500 a month, with potential for team-provided healthcare as the team grows. The position is full time.
