JOB DESCRIPTION

The Michigan House Democratic Fund (MHDF) is looking for a dedicated and energetic Finance Associate to help us raise the revenue needed to strengthen our core operation and help take the chamber in 2026.

 

The Finance Associate will play an integral role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the fundraising team. This position will directly report to the Finance Director and is a unique opportunity to obtain significant experience in all aspects of political fundraising for a nationally targeted legislative chamber.

 

Responsibilities:

● Work with finance team to meet fundraising goals

● Conduct donor research to identify new prospective donors and update existing donor records

● Staff candidate call time and maintain detailed outreach notes in database (NGP 8)

● Ensure all call sheets are ready and accurate for call time

● Complete donor follow up by email and phone

● Track and manage Check and ACH contributions, ensuring accurate record-keeping.

● Maintain and update financial data in NGP, ensuring records are consistently accurate and up-to-date.

● Staff events in a professional and engaging manner, providing on-the-ground support for event activities such as check-ins, donor interaction, and troubleshooting.

● Write and send thank-you cards and emails to donors to acknowledge contributions and strengthen relationships.

● Execute on systems to track donor follow-ups, ensuring timely and thoughtful engagement with supporters.

● And all other duties as assigned by the Finance Director

 

Requirements:

● A strong commitment to electing Democrats to state government

● Detail oriented self-starter with an interest in Democratic fundraising

● Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of wide-ranging responsibilities

● Ability to manage multiple priorities at once, meet key deadlines, and work in fast-paced environment

● Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

● Access to cell phone, laptop, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation

● NGP experience preferred
