The Monica Tranel for Montana campaign is looking for an experienced and passionate individual to join our team in Montana’s 1st congressional district as our Finance Director. The right candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, and prepared to build a comprehensive fundraising program. The Finance Director will be a core member of our senior staff and work closely with the Campaign Manager, Monica, consultant team, National Fundraiser(s), and strategic advisors to maintain and expand existing donor relationships while cultivating new in-state and national donor networks to ensure no stone is left unturned and the campaign has the resources we need to run a top-tier competitive race. After dramatically overperforming the 2020 presidential ticket and running one of the most competitive races in the country in 2022, Monica has proven she has what it takes to win MT-01. Any candidate should be prepared to step into this race knowing this is a Red-to-Blue race, one of the races that will ultimately determine who controls the House.

 

OVERVIEW

This is a full-time position based in Missoula, MT. The Finance Director will be responsible for strategically designing, revising and executing the fundraising plan. The Finance Director will

report directly to the Campaign Manager. Candidates applying for the Finance Director

position must be highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented, with an ability to work in a

fast-paced environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, manage, and implement an aggressive finance plan for the campaign, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly projections across all fundraising operations. 

  • Track and report weekly fundraising numbers.

  • Work with the Campaign Manager to manage the campaign’s budget and cash flow. 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing donors, and cultivate relationships with new in-state and national donors to expand the campaign's donor network. 

  • Manage fundraising event planning and execution with in-state and national donors.

  • Assist in preparing for candidate call time when necessary.

  • Staff in-person and virtual events when necessary.

  • Manage the Call Time Manager/Deputy Finance Director and additional staff as needed

  • Set goals and objectives to hold oneself and other Finance staff accountable.

  • Establish a strong professional and empowering team culture within the larger campaign environment focused on accountability, collaboration with all campaign departments, and in service to the people of MT-01. 

  • Work closely with the Campaign Manager, Monica, consultant team, National Fundraiser, and strategic advisors to develop fundraising priorities for the campaign.

  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the Campaign Manager, Monica, other campaign staff, consultant team, National Fundraiser, strategic advisors, and donors. 

  • Work quickly and accurately under pressure and in rapid response environments. 

  • Manage input from multiple team members.

  • Serve as a core member of the campaign’s senior staff. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one cycle or one year of campaign fundraising experience is required 

  • Proficiency in NGP and ActBlue

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices through call time, event planning and management, and donor research and cultivation, as well as best practices in digital fundraising efforts. 

  • Background or experience working with Frontline members or Red-to-Blue candidates preferred. 

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meeting frequent and short deadlines.

  • Willing to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.

  • Superior time management, attention to detail, and multi-tasking abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Detail oriented self-starter.

  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization with a culture of respect, empowerment, and inclusion.

  • A valid driver's license and access to a licensed and insured vehicle.

  • Access to a cell phone, laptop, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.

  • Connections to the district are preferred; willingness to relocate to the district is required.

  • Proficiency in Google docs and Microsoft Office.

  • Previous experience managing staff preferred.

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary: $6,000 - $7,500+ per month (experience dependent)

  • The campaign can provide logistical support in locating housing in Missoula

  • Benefits: $300 per month healthcare stipend
