JOB DESCRIPTION

Raquel Carter for Lexington Mayor seeks a full-time, on-site finance director for a nationally targeted mayoral race in Lexington, Kentucky. 

 

A qualified candidate will be expected to perform the following:

 

  • Provide a comprehensive fundraising plan based on budgetary needs and the timeline of financial filings;

  • Create and manage a successful daily call time operation, which includes prospecting, daily goals, reasonable asks, and immediate followups;

  • Create and manage a cash/check flow policy for bank account maintenance and filing efficiency;

  • Manage fundraiser operation, including cultivating and maintaining positive and helpful relationship with hosts and any potential donors;

  • Manage NGP and make any necessary technological adjustments to increase productivity for the candidate;

  • Work with the candidate on tailored hard asks - either for call time or one-on-one meetings;

  • Work directly with the campaign manager to craft a working budget;

  • Monitor cash flow and expenditures;

  • Work directly with consultants and vendors to incorporate static budgets into what will eventually turn into daily/weekly dynamic buys;

  • Create a prospectus based on the needs going into both the primary and general election;

  • Manage a team of local, college-aged interns who are hungry to be a part of a winning campaign

 

  A qualified candidate possesses the following:

 

  • Experience with NGP and any associated campaign fundraising platforms;

  • A familiarity with campaigns that are tailored around highly-targeted field, digital, and mail;

  • Experience with building out a donor network that touches locally, regionally, and nationally;

  • Previous working experience with Labor unions is a big plus;

  • Previous working experience on at least 3 campaigns - ideally large mayoral or countywide races. Experience on congressional campaigns that have raised $1million+ is also welcome;

  • Even if you have not previously been at a director level, experienced and hungry finance assistants are encouraged to apply

 

This is a full-time position, with a salary range of $3,500 to $4,500 depending on experience. Supporter housing can be provided. This position will run through the primary on May 19, 2026, and any successful candidate will be asked to stay on for the general. We are looking to fill this position immediately - though can be flexible on daily remote work/call time/follow-up in order to make the move easier for both parties. A vehicle is required for this position.
