JOB DESCRIPTION

Scholten for Congress is hiring a full-time Finance Director to join our team in Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District. Congresswoman Hillary Scholten made history in 2022 as the first woman – and first Democrat in nearly 50 years – to represent this district in Congress. The ideal candidate should be excited about the prospect of growing and implementing an ambitious fundraising program, while working towards the long-term success of the campaign in future cycles. This position will start in Q2 of 2025 and will continue indefinitely.

This position is located in West Michigan, with travel as needed to staff events. This is a senior staff role that reports to the Senior Advisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and execute a robust finance plan using events, meetings, direct mail, digital fundraising, call time, and raising from allies.

  • Monitor progress to goal and push the team to reach aggressive quarterly goals.

  • Provide day-to-day management of the finance team, which may include remote management during the off-year.

  • Review and approve all fundraising email and mail copy.

  • Staff the Congresswoman’s call time.

  • Oversee and manage all finance data and technology including NGP, ActBlue, Google Drive, and Call Time AI.

  • Interface with all partner organizations and vendors essential to financial success – including but not limited to a compliance firm and consultant team.

  • Build a long-term finance and fundraising program for the campaign.

Requirements:

  • Preferred 1+ cycle of campaign finance experience, two cycles strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in NGP,  ActBlue, and Google Drive preferred.

  • Self-starter with a robust work ethic who is willing to work weekends and evenings in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Strong writer who can clearly communicate complex ideas in written form.

  • Confident verbal communicator who can clearly communicate up and down the organizational hierarchy.

  • Ties to the Midwest, particularly West Michigan, are a strong plus.
