JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

A competitive New York City Mayoral campaign is seeking a full-time Finance Director, who is passionate about bringing strong experienced leadership to New York City to deliver a safer, more affordable, liveable, better run for city for all New Yorkers. This position requires a results-driven leader with experience in political fundraising, donor cultivation, and compliance, preferably with knowledge of New York City’s Campaign Finance Board (CFB) regulations. The Finance Director will work closely with the Candidate, Campaign Manager, and finance team to achieve fundraising goals while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan tailored to New York City’s political and donor landscape.

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit contributions from individuals, political action committees (PACs), unions, and other entities.

  • Maximize fundraising opportunities through events, call time, direct mail, online giving, and donor networks.

 

Donor Cultivation and Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors.

  • Manage donor outreach, including scheduling and preparing the candidate for call time and meetings.

  • Develop targeted strategies to engage and retain small-dollar and high-dollar donors.

 

Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Organize and oversee fundraising events, including house parties, receptions, and larger-scale gatherings.

  • Coordinate event logistics, including invitations, guest lists, venues, and follow-up with attendees.

 

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with NYC Campaign Finance Board (CFB) regulations, including contribution limits and reporting requirements.

  • Work closely with the campaign treasurer to maintain accurate records of all contributions and expenditures.

 

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a finance team, including staff and volunteers.

  • Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining oversight of all fundraising operations.

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

 

Digital Fundraising:

  • Collaborate with the digital team to optimize online fundraising campaigns, including email, social media, and crowdfunding strategies.

 

Goal Tracking and Analysis:

  • Set and monitor progress toward weekly, monthly, and overall fundraising goals.

  • Analyze fundraising performance and adjust strategies to ensure targets are met.

 

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • At least 4-6 years of experience in political fundraising,

  • Proven success in raising funds for campaigns, preferably in New York City or similar political environments.

 

Skills:

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse donor groups.

  • Proficiency in NGP, ActBlue, Canva, and Google Workspace

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established network of political and philanthropic contacts in New York City.

  • Experience managing a matching funds program through the NYC Campaign Finance Board.

  • Knowledge of NYC CFB regulations and compliance requirements.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

  • Travel across New York City for events and donor meetings.

 

Compensation:

Salary is $8,500/month commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
