The Michigan Senate Democratic Fund (MSDF) is a full-time political organization dedicated to protecting the Democratic majority in the Michigan Senate.
MSDF is looking for an experienced, full-time Finance Director to run an aggressive fundraising operation to defend the new Democratic majority. The Finance Director will work closely with the Executive Director, the campaign leadership team, and individual members to draft and execute a fundraising plan to prepare for 2026.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist MSDF in developing an aggressive multi-million dollar 2-year finance plan.
• Develop and execute a multi-faceted short-and long-term finance plan with programs aimed at multiple categories of donors (including PACs, high and low-dollar individuals, other institutional givers, and online contributors).
• Plan, schedule, and manage small-and large-scale fundraising events.
• Manage caucus call time, conduct all follow-up donor correspondence and pledges.
• Build on existing donor database by identifying, researching, and recruiting new donors. Assist members in building strong relationships with major donors. Oversee compliance and prepare state finance reports for MSDF.
• Write or oversee drafting of direct mail and online/email solicitations.
• Working with finance team, assist incumbent members and candidates with developing and executing their own successful fundraising plans.
• Supervise finance team in donor research, event planning, and other support activities.
• Staff MSDF leadership and other members at campaign-related events.
Qualifications
• Strong commitment to electing Democrats to state government.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum two cycles statewide, congressional, or state legislative campaign finance director or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience with NGP required.
• Must have a car (position will at time require travel around the state). Position is in Lansing, Michigan. Occasional hybrid work opportunities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
• Work extended hours, including occasional nights and weekends as needed.

• Flexibility to work extensive hours outside of normal operating hours.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position while driving or riding as a passenger in a car because occasional statewide travel is necessary. MSDF will reimburse mileage.
