JOB DESCRIPTION

Vikki Goodwin for Texas is seeking Finance Fellows to join the campaign's fundraising operation for the 2026 General Election. Finance Fellows will work directly with the Finance Department to support the campaign's efforts to raise the resources necessary to win statewide.

This is a department-specific fellowship. Finance Fellows will be embedded within the Finance Department and will primarily support finance and fundraising activities rather than serving as general campaign interns. Fellows will receive hands-on experience with the day-to-day operation of a statewide campaign finance program while taking responsibility for defined projects and recurring work within the department.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in gaining substantive campaign finance experience. Prior campaign finance experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing donor and prospect research

  • Assist with candidate call time, including preparation, staffing, data entry, and follow-up

  • Help maintain the campaign's fundraising database and ensure accurate donor records

  • Assist with fundraising event preparation, staffing, and follow-up

  • Prepare donor briefings, call sheets, invitations, and other fundraising materials

  • Support donor outreach and follow-up as directed by the Finance Director

  • Assist with tracking fundraising activity and progress toward department goals

  • Take ownership of assigned Finance Department projects and recurring responsibilities

  • Perform other finance-related duties as assigned by the Finance Director

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, databases, and other campaign technology

  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take feedback

  • Ability to work independently once trained while communicating effectively with the Finance team

  • Commitment to electing Democrats

  • Availability for occasional evenings and weekends as campaign needs require

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with political campaigns is preferred

  • Experience with fundraising, NGP VAN, ActBlue, Microsoft Excel, or other donor databases is a plus, but not required. 

  • Individuals who want to develop the skills necessary to pursue future work in campaign finance and Democratic politics.
