Friends of Sherrod Brown Communications Department is seeking a dedicated and driven ** Press Secretary** to join our team. This role is a great opportunity to gain principal management skills, on the road experience, and work directly with the Ohio press corps.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with the Ohio press corps to serve as the key point of contact for in-state press
Staff and advise Sherrod Brown on the campaign trail at events across the state
Assist in the planning and execution of campaign media events, including prepping and staffing campaign surrogates
Draft press releases, talking points, memos, and other external and internal campaign communications materials
Pitch Sherrod Brown for press in-state and nationally
Occasionally serve as an on the record spokesperson for the campaign
Other responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
2 cycles of campaign communications experience, or a relevant equivalent
Strong ability to write and edit materials on a tight deadline
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail, an ability to work under tight deadlines
On the record experience with reporters preferred
A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new things
