POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Fundraising Associate will play a vital role in supporting and executing the fundraising programs for our clients. This individual will work closely with the fundraising team to implement client fundraising strategy, event planning, database management, and donor relations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping Democrats, have strong communication skills, and a proactive attitude towards meeting fundraising goals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Manage assigned client accounts and serve as the firm’s primary point of contact for assigned clients. 

  • Assist in cultivating relationships with current and potential donors, including making calls, sending personalized emails, and preparing thank-you notes and other forms of acknowledgment. 

  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, including logistics, promotion, and follow-up activities. 

  • Maintain and update donor records in the fundraising database, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of all information. 

  • Drafting and composing compelling fundraising communications for distribution to include but not limited to: emails, text messages, direct mail letters, prospectuses and event invitations. 

  • Conduct prospect research to identify new donors and funding opportunities. 

  • Track and report on fundraising progress, including event metrics, donor engagement, and overall campaign performance. 

  • Perform general administrative tasks related to fundraising activities, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing fundraising materials. 

  • Ensure all fundraising activities comply with campaign finance laws and regulations, including accurate and timely reporting to the relevant authorities. 

  • Liaising with supporting organizations on behalf of the candidate to coordinate meetings and secure contributions. 

  • Work closely with the campaign team to align fundraising efforts with overall campaign strategies and goals. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • A valid driver's license is required. 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. 

  • 1-3 years of experience in fundraising or a related area is preferred. 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 

  • Comfortability with fast-paced work environment and ability to switch between various tasks. 

  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. 

  • Prior experience with fundraising software (e.g., NGP, Campaign Deputy, ActBlue, Switchboard, etc.) is a plus. 

  • Proficiency in Canva graphic design is a plus.

EXPECTATIONS  

  • 25% travel within the United States 

  • Hybrid work schedule in downtown Richmond, Virginia office. 

 

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS         **   

  • Salary Range: $48,000 - $55,000 (annualized)

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS 

The Fundraising Associate, who manages the Fundraising Intern functions, reports to this position and is expected to operate under moderate supervisory involvement, depending on the task and the incumbent’s knowledge and ability to complete the task.   

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT  

When onsite, this position is in a professional, office environment. Most work is accomplished using company issued desktop or portable computer systems, scanners, printers, copiers, phones, and typical office supplies and equipment.
