JOB DESCRIPTION

The Kansas Democratic Party (KDP) is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated General Election Director to help build and execute the pre-primary 2026 Coordinated Campaign programming in the state. This is a senior campaign role responsible for standing up key infrastructure before the primary, managing the pre-primary coordinated effort, hiring and supervising coordinated staff, and ensuring the Party is prepared to transition immediately into a full general election program after the primary. Following the primary, this position will focus on managing the statewide field operation through Election Day. This position reports to the KDP Executive Director before the primary and to the Coordinated Director post-primary and will run through the 2026 general election. The role is Kansas-based and will require regular in-state travel.

Responsibilities

● Manage day-to-day operations of the pre-primary 2026 coordinated effort, including staff hiring and management, partner communication, program planning, and implementation.

● Work with KDP leadership, campaigns, consultants, and partners to build and execute a statewide general election strategy.

● Develop clear systems for staff onboarding, training, accountability, reporting, and performance tracking.

● Coordinate with priority campaigns to ensure alignment across the ticket.

● Build strong relationships with candidates, campaign managers, county parties, caucuses, allied organizations, national partners, and other key stakeholders.

● Work with leadership and data staff to develop, refine, and track voter-contact universes, volunteer recruitment goals, persuasion targets, and turnout goals.

● Oversee execution of the statewide field program after the primary, including voter contact, volunteer recruitment, persuasion, turnout, and GOTV.

● Set and manage daily, weekly, monthly, and cycle-wide goals for the field program.

● Ensure accurate use of VAN, Mobilize, texting platforms, and other campaign tools.

● Identify and troubleshoot programmatic, staffing, data, and logistical challenges.

● Help prepare for a seamless post-primary transition, including staffing, turf, reporting structures, partner alignment, and general election execution.

● Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

● At least 3 cycles of campaign experience, including at least 1 cycle in a senior management role.

● Significant experience with field, organizing, direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment, voter identification, persuasion, and GOTV.

● Experience managing staff, volunteers, or multiple layers of campaign teams.

● Demonstrated ability to build campaign systems from the ground up and scale them quickly.

● Experience hiring, training, coaching, and holding staff accountable to goals.

● Familiarity with coordinated campaigns, state parties, statewide campaigns, or multi-campaign electoral programs.

● Strong project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

● Comfort using data to drive strategy, evaluate progress, and adjust tactics.

● Proficiency with VAN and common campaign tools, including Google Workspace, Mobilize, texting platforms, and voter-contact reporting systems.

● Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

● Sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and strong problem-solving skills under pressure.

● Relentlessly goal-oriented: enjoys working toward and achieving ambitious goals.

● A demonstrated commitment to electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

● A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout Kansas.

● Ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends, especially as the election approaches.

● Ability to move to Kansas by July 1, 2026.
