Position Announcement: Grasstops Volunteer Coordinator
Activate America is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven organizer to serve as our Grasstops Volunteer Coordinator — the national hub for our fast-growing grassroots network of local groups working together to elect Democrats, defend democracy, and win the closest races.
About the A-Team
The A-Team is Activate America’s grassroots organizing network — our “group of groups.” More than 200 local volunteer teams across the country are mobilizing voters through phone banking, texting, and postcarding in the races that matter most.
A-Team groups are locally rooted and nationally connected: each group organizes in ways that work for their community while plugging into shared strategy, tools, and support from Activate America.

The A-Team Coordinator will be responsible for helping this network grow, thrive, and win.
Position Summary
The A-Team Coordinator will recruit, onboard, support, provide training for, and energize local volunteer leaders across the country. This person will serve as the primary relationship manager for A-Team groups and will help ensure the network is active, connected, and aligned with Activate America’s electoral strategy.
This role blends ** grasstops organizing, volunteer leadership development, program management, and community building.**
Key Responsibilities
Network Growth & Recruitment: Recruiting new A-Team groups, supporting their growth and leadership development, and maintaining a strong pipeline of new group organizers.
Group Support & Relationship Management: Moving existing groups up the ladder of engagement, whether in terms of onboarding new groups or increasing the engagement levels of existing groups.
Training & Leadership Development: Facilitating orientations and skill-building sessions, elevating and sharing best practices across groups, and developing leadership pathways for high-capacity volunteers.
Program Coordination & Data: Tracking group activity and engagement metrics, managing monthly A-Team meetings, and helping refine systems that make organizing easier and more scalable.
Qualifications
Required
4+ years of grassroots organizing, volunteer management, or campaign experience
Strong relationship-building and coaching skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
High level of organization and follow-through
Comfort working in a fast-paced political environment
Commitment to electing Democrats and defending democratic institutions
Preferred
Experience supporting distributed volunteer networks
Familiarity with phone banking, texting, or postcard programs
Experience running trainings or facilitating groups
CRM experience (e.g., VAN, EveryAction, Airtable, or similar)
Experience working with volunteer-led organizations
Location & Compensation
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Travel: Occasional travel may be required
Compensation: $6,000 per month, with up to a $500 a month stipend for healthcare purchased through the marketplace
Status: Full-time (or specify if otherwise)
