JOB DESCRIPTION

The Team Support (HR) Lead/Manager’s role is to guide staff into and out of the organization, and support them throughout their staff life cycle with Sunrise. They are responsible for maintaining and developing staff benefits, running payroll, overseeing the onboarding and offboarding, and holding key policies in the Employee Handbook. The TS Lead is also responsible for tracking staff demographics, ensuring staff completion of general staff trainings that relate to Sunrise policy in the Employee Handbook.

 

Responsibilities

General and Health Insurance Benefits

  • Manage the implementation and compliance of health benefits to employees

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding of staff to general benefits, health benefits, and assist staff with general and health benefits questions/issues.

  • Collaborate with health insurance brokers to maintain and update our health benefits systems and accounts, and update health benefits policies as needed.

 

Grievances and Harassment Reporting and Processes

  • Help create and run trainings for staff related to grievance/harassment policy, restorative justice, and consent.

  • Support on active grievance and complaint processes.

 

Onboarding and Offboarding

  • Lead onboarding calls for newly hired Sunrise employees and fellows/interns (if necessary)

  • Track and ensure new hires complete all onboarding tasks

  • Run background checks for new hires and store them in Staff Folders

  • Manage offboarding process for Sunrise staff by coordinating with relevant parties 

 

Payroll Info Maintenance 

  • Onboarding new staff to HRIS/payroll, bottomline checking w4 and 1-9 EE forms and store them in staff folders

  • Offboarding staff from HRIS platforms and spreadsheets

  • Keep payroll related spreadsheets and our payroll platform updated 

  • Assist staff with questions about payroll 

  • Assists with running payroll and onboarding staff who contribute into 401ks 

Young People Safeguarding and COVID Policy Update and Compliance

  • Manage the process for updating Sunrise’s Young People Safeguarding Policy and COVID policy, following the lead of the compliance team to indicate when it needs to be updated, to ensure it meets best practices and legal compliance

  • Coordinate with the Compliance Team to ensure that the necessary staff are trained on the COVID and Young People Safeguarding policies

  • Supports responses to policy violations and unforeseen circumstances, including if a staff member gets COVID or if a young person reports an issue at a Sunrise National event

  • Possibly, attend staff events with more than 50 attendees and ensures YPS and Covid policies are implemented 

 

Staff Trainings

  • Manage staff trainings including but not limited to: Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, Health Care and Open Enrollment Training, and conflict and consent.

Team Support Communication Coordination 

  • Do bi-weekly coordination of communications from our department to staff

  • Communicating to staff about upcoming time off for all staff including holiday reminders

  • Assessing and update the ways our department communicates with staff and will assess and develop ways of improving this communication

Staff Surveys

  • Run staff demographic survey once a year 

  • Run wellness staff survey

 

System Management 

  • Manage appropate HR realted documents and spreadsheets including but no limited to: 401k enrollment, staff directory, bargaining unit, staff total costs tracking and reporting.

 

Security 

  • Works with the Data and TS Director in formalizing a clear security system for all staff

  • Ensures the google drive is correctly shared with staff 

 

Qualifications 

Must Haves

  • 2 year experience in HR related work 

  • Commitment in building and maintaining accessible HR tracking systems and processes 

  • Experience running payroll and timecards 

  • Takes initiative and is proactive 

  • Understanding of health care benefits 

  • Detail oriented and highly organized 

  • Skilled in project management 

  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing needs 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Able to redirect questions/asks in a timely manner 

  • A deep understanding of justice, equity, and anti-oppression and is able to approach the workplace with the commitment in supporting staff

  • Able to be self-directed, prioritize and manage time well

  • Experience working with spreadsheets/google sheets

  • Ability to create and lead staff trainings and surveys

  • Willing to travel for work
