The Iowa House Democrats are a full-time political organization dedicated to winning a Democratic majority in the Iowa House of Representatives.
The Iowa House Democrats are looking for several full-time Campaign Managers to work on targeted statehouse races across Iowa. Campaign Managers will work directly with 1-2 targeted candidates and report directly to the Iowa House Democrats central staff. They will be responsible for managing a candidates’ time and ensuring the campaigns are meeting goals provided by central staff.
An ideal candidate will need to be detail-oriented, have some experience in political campaigns or similar organizations (volunteer and internship experience included), and have the ability to work independently with candidates and members of the caucus. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate and/or someone wanting to get started in Democratic politics.
This position will require campaign hours and district-wide travel. The salary for this position is with full benefits including healthcare with paid vacation and paid sick leave. Supporter housing will be available upon request. This position may begin remotely but managers will be expected to relocate to the district.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage and execute implementation of field and finance plans
Work alongside candidate(s) and central staff achieve goals and meet deadlines, reporting directly to Candidate Services Director
Recruit and manage a volunteer base to execute comprehensive field and GOTV plans
Staff and prepare for candidate call time and in-person events
Work with candidate treasurer to manage compliance needs
Work with partner and affiliated organizations on the ground and build relationships with key stakeholders
Manage campaign social media accounts in conjunction with campaign communications plan
Any and all other campaign-related tasks as needed to be successful on Election Day.
Requirements:
Previous campaign fundraising experience preferred but not required
Self-starter with the ability to show strong organizational and planning skills while working long hours in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred experience with field organizing/canvassing
Preferred experience managing volunteers
Lives in or willing to relocate to in district for the duration of the campaign cycle
Must have a car and valid driver’s license (position will at times require travel in-district)
Must have access to cell phone and laptop
Work extended hours, including nights and weekends as needed
