WHAT IS DURHAM DELIVERS?
Durham Delivers is a local candidate-led effort designed to deliver the win margin for Democrats statewide in North Carolina by increasing voter turnout in Durham County to 80%. By driving record turnout from the state’s bluest county, we can create upstream momentum for critical statewide races, including turning North Carolina blue for the first time since 2008 to elect Kamala Harris as President of the United States. It’s all possible when Durham delivers!

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS & SUPPORT FOR THE LEAD ORGANIZER?
The Lead Organizer will have the following skills and experiences:
Flexibility: This is a campaign, and things will change. You roll with the punches, and you expect them.
People management experience: You have previously managed at least three people and been accountable for their performance (a serious club or volunteer setting is sufficient for these purposes).
Positive attitude: The work is hard but you believe in it, and your attitude reflects it!
Integrity: You do what you say you’re going to do, when you’re going to do it, and communicate proactively if and when things change.
Organizer’s mindset: An organizer respects, empowers, and includes. An organizer motivates, coaches, and trains. An organizer BELIEVES - in the mission, the people who work with them, and in our volunteers.
Organizer’s skill set: Previous organizing experience is not necessary, although some kind of operational, people, or project management is. An organizer’s skill set includes: data analytics and management, the ability to use integral tech (NGP, VAN, G-Suite), communication skills, strong spreadsheet management, logistics management abilities, the ability to track data and to-dos.
Sprint capacity: This is a sprint, not a marathon. We need someone who can work until the work is done and push hard for the next two months. Nights and weekends will be required. This is a temporary job with long-term career and societal benefit.
The Lead Organizer will have access to mentorship from Durham Delivers’ Candidates’ campaign staff and from local candidates.
Time Commitment: ASAP - November 8th.
Training: The Lead Organizer will be onboarded by Durham Delivers board members Representative Zack Hawkins, Democratic Nominee for State Senate, Sophia Chitlik, and community advocate Matt Kopac.
Events: The lead organizer will be invited to all Durham Delivers events.
Recognition: The Lead Organizer will be recognized on the Durham Delivers website and social media platforms and will have special access to local candidates.
Pay: The lead organizer will receive a monthly salary of $6,500, prorated based on their start date and a $500 monthly healthcare stipend. Pending fundraising and performance, there is the potential for an exit bonus.
WHAT CAN DURHAM DELIVER?
☑ The ENTIRE win margin for Democrats statewide. The difference between 75% and 80% turnout in Durham is about 10,000 votes. Statewide margins have been historically very tight in North Carolina.**** Governor Cooper won by about 10,000 votes in 2016. President Obama won by only about 14,000 votes in 2008. Attorney General Stein won by about 13,000 votes in 2020. In 2020, about 77% of registered voters turned out in Durham. We need to get to 80% in order to deliver statewide.
☑ The end of Donald Trump’s political career and 16 electoral votes for Kamala Harris. There is no electoral path for Donald Trump without North Carolina, meaning that Durham alone has the potential to determine the fate of democracy.
WHO IS BEHIND DURHAM DELIVERS?
100% of Candidates for County Commissioner, including: Board of Commissioners Chair Nida Allam, Commissioner Wendy Jacobs and Commissioner Elects Stephen Valentine, Mike Lee, and Michelle Burton are confirmed.
