JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

From August 19-22, 2024, Democrats from all over the country will gather together in the City of Chicago to participate in the Democratic National Convention, where we will nominate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for re-election. The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) is assembling a diverse team with skills in community engagement, event logistics, finance, operations, IT, and more. The DNCC team will oversee and deliver on all aspects of the planning and execution of this Convention, from housing the delegates to convening Platform Committee meetings to producing the Convention’s live programming, which will be seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world.

 

SUMMARY 

As the Mac Systems Administrator you will oversee the deployment and management strategy for the DNCC’s Mac computers, printers, conference room equipment, mobile devices and other endpoints. Responsibilities include system administration, software deployment, OS patching, and bash scripting. You will be able to hit the ground running supporting a diversely segmented user base across several environments. Strong communication skills and technical proficiency are essential. 

 

REPORTING STRUCTURE 

  • Reports to Director of Technology

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Systems Management of Mac computers using JAMF, Apple Business Manager, Apple Configurator and related technologies. 

  • Application Deployment: Create custom application packages, bash scripts, and workflows to ensure software is reliably installed and updated. 

  • Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with vendors to ensure technology needs are met, coordinating changes with our help desk and project management teams. 

  • Security: Ensure security protocols and controls are implemented according to the organizational standards established by our security team.

  • Documentation: Develop policies, procedures, user training materials and tutorials for our staff and help desk team.

  • Participate in special projects and perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • At least 4 years of professional IT experience in System Administration & Operations, including hardware and software maintenance and user account management.

  • Strong skills in configuring and maintaining Mac OS X and iOS-based devices.

  • Demonstrated experience using JAMF Pro for Apple device administration.

  • Proficiency with CLI commands and bash scripting custom deployment scenarios.

  • Proficiency in packaging for deployment user applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Chrome, and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Familiarity with common networking concepts as it relates to MDM, including PKI and certificate management.

  • Familiarity managing Google Workspace Applications via MDM systems 

  • Analytical skills for technical problem-solving.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Experience with the management and mass deployment of user hardware such as printers, copiers, and scanners.

 

TRAVEL

There is no travel expected for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The DNCC will mainly operate out of the Headquarters Office, but will also maintain a number of satellite offices and additional venues. All of these spaces are professional office environments, and will require the operation of office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. This position mainly uses an assigned workstation but may require movement or maintaining a stationary position for short or long periods of time. Employees may be asked to do tasks requiring dexterity or lifting items weighing up to 10 lbs. All employees may request a reasonable accommodation to perform their job tasks.

JOB LOCATION: Chicago, IL

FLSA ELIGIBILITY: This is an exempt position under the FLSA.

SALARY & BENEFITS: The anticipated starting salary for this position is $90,000. The DNCC offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance.
