Over the next two years, Ohio Democrats (ODP) will build an organization to win highly-consequential elections up and down the ballot. With new leadership comes a new vision for our Party, refocusing on the core fundamentals that move the needle. ODP is building back better as a focused, modern, and nimble force to elect Democrats statewide now and in the future.
In 2025, Ohio Democrats must re-engage communities, county parties, and voters to build a stronger coalition. With over 6,000 races on the ballot in 2025, Ohio Democrats are focused on re-engaging folks for the fight ahead. In 2026, every statewide office will be on the ballot - including a special election to replace J.D. Vance’s seat in the U.S. Senate. With 3 DCCC Frontline Races to protect, the path to a Democratic majority in the U.S. House and Senate for 2025 will run through Ohio.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Ohio Democrats seek a creative, experienced Media Director to oversee all aspects of the state party communication apparatus. This person will serve as our chief communications strategist and storyteller, implementing a content strategy to drive reach, reputation, engagement, and revenue. Working with a range of digital formats, the Media Director will manage (and eventually grow) a team to deliver high-quality content from conception to production while maximizing strategic investment with budget tracking and resource allocation. Additionally, this individual will Influence alignment and collaboration with other content-driving teams across the Democratic ecosystem.
A successful candidate will be committed to thinking creatively, factual accuracy in storytelling and intertwining multiple narratives to describe the work that the party, local activists, and Democratic candidates are doing all across Ohio. This role requires a strategic problem solver who is data-driven, pragmatic, and passionate about their work and mentoring teams. Tasked with evolving the content strategy and aligning strategic goals, this leader will also own communication insights and plans to executive teams, playing a key role in the broader planning process.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
● Establish and communicate the strategic approach for content, defining content strategies, including storytelling, and aligning content strategies with broader objectives.
● Lead detailed content requirements analyses across digital media to identify expansion opportunities that align with objectives and ensure a strategic approach in content diversification and innovation.
● Set and lead clear targets for reach from content strategies. Track and analyze content performance to ensure impact.
● Lead initiatives to build OH Dems presence on new platforms and grow a creator network, including innovative crowdsourcing approaches.
● Build and and engage an online community across all platforms
● Collaborate across department to tell the OH Dems story and engage followers in trainings, volunteer opportunities, and announcements, and OH Dems event content from across the state
● Support ODP's digital fundraising, especially around major endorsements, events, merchandise or surrogates
● Manage current staff of 2, and lead relationship with 3 outside contractors
● Manage vendor relationships and execute paid digital media strategies
● Other projects as needed

● Senior leadership experience in the media industry, with a track record or building and running teams and projects.
● Expertise in operational analytics with an ability to apply data-driven decision-making.
● Experience creating and managing a budget.
● Exceptional leader, capable of empowering and inspiring teams, encouraging trust, accountability, and collaborative success.
● Clear, effective, high-quality writer.
● Ability to time and project manage, often multiple projects simultaneously.
● Demonstrated track record of managing content and community growth on all major social media platforms.
● A voracious digital consumer- following current events and trends is second nature.
● Expertise with digital technology, platform management apps, and design and video software.
● Strong skills in managing up, communicating needs, and tracking progress in clear, metrics driven systems.

The salary will be $8,000 per month and full benefits including PTO as needed, health, dental, and voluntary vision insurance. The hourly expectation will fluctuate depending on the campaign cycle, but will be a minimum of 40 hours per week. Housing will not be provided.
