**Position Title: **Membership Organizer
**Hours: **Full Time
**Location: **Flexible, work from home (remote). Will require some travel throughout the year.
Start date: ASAP, possibly end of April/early May
Reports to: Membership Manager
**Eligibility: **This position is eligible to participate in Sunrise’s CWA Labor Union.
**Teams: **Membership team, Movement Membership team, Caucus Volunteer Team
Compensation: $57,500 - $66,012 annually depending on years of experience. In addition, Sunrise provides a special city allowance if hire resides in a metro/micro area and yearly salary increases.

**Role Purpose: **The Member Organizer will join the Membership Team in building a strong multi racial cross class leadership and prepare our movement for rigorous mass disruption.
The Membership Organizer is responsible for supporting hubs, chapters and Sunrisers to achieve our strategy of growing a base across race, class, and geography and organizing to mass disruption in 2028 and GND wins.

Responsibilities
Trainings & Coaching [40%]
Building out centralized (e.g., in person, online new member, welcome) and decentralized trainings and coaching infrastructure that develops the skills of our movement to carry out our work
Create and manage a volunteer team to support the work to put on trainings (e.g., recruit for the trainings, facilitate the trainings, work with other staff members to develop curriculum for the trainings)
Support Membership Director in building out, developing and maintaining curriculum for the Sunrise Trainings Program
Directing hub and chapter members/leaders to online resources and supports with ad-hoc coaching
Create and design digital and distributed action opportunities and infrastructure (eg: texting, welcome program) for young people across the country including absorbing and welcoming new people
Lead planning and execution of distributed training programs and waves of nonviolent direct action in alignment with national strategy.
Support with other Sunrise trainings, including Training of Trainers and Black/Latine/Indigenous Caucus trainings and gathering
Support in Rapid Response [15%]
Co-lead rapid response efforts which require shifting and setting priorities and re-direction based on time-sensitive needs like campaign launches, communications, or high-pressure scenarios to meet the moment.
Collaborate across teams to ensure alignment and timely execution, including occasional work outside regular hours.
Build and Co-Lead the Black & Latiné Caucus [20%]
Own and lead the development and facilitation of the Black & Latiné Caucus, creating a political home for Black and Latiné members within Sunrise. This includes launching and maintaining core programming such as ad-hoc community calls, and a summer in-person gathering.
Design and oversee a year-long political education arc connecting racial justice, class struggle, and climate justice.
Manage and grow a volunteer team to support facilitation, recruitment, and programming.
Collaborate with team members in and outside Membership Team (data, mobs, schools, new hubs) to align the caucus with onboarding, retention, and broader movement goals.
Membership Comms [15%]
Shape and drive membership communications strategy, ensuring clarity, alignment, and engagement across Sunrise’s base.
Own messaging across platforms as it relates to the Membership Team ensuring communications is supporting organizing goals and volunteer engagement.

Qualifications
Must Haves
At least a year of organizing experience
Strong facilitation and training skills
Strong coaching skills and orientation towards developing leaders (e.g., much of the work includes coaching and developing members and leaders)
Strong basebuilding & organizing skills (e.g., 1:1, canvassing, recruitment, direct action)
Has experience with digital tools (e.g., EveryAction, Mobilize, AirTable, Scale2Win)
Can work well on teams
Alignment with Sunrise theory of change of building people power and political power
Is able to articulate personal stake in organizing across race and class
Strong alignment with the Sunrise theory of change and guiding policy
Believes in the power of students and workers to transform society
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
