ABOUT THE ROLE

The National Member Organizer is the person who holds the whole thing together from the inside. While other national organizers are focused on geography and formations, this role is focused on the national membership infrastructure, making sure members are plugged in, leaders are being tracked and developed, national spaces are running well, and campaign support tools are available to squaDDs across the country.

This is not a purely administrative role. The National Member Organizer is also an active organizer building relationships, recruiting, and developing members in their own community and geography. They move as a coach: they are not doing the work for squaDDs, but they are a resource, a connector, and a consistent presence.

  • Ensure all members are meaningfully plugged in placed into a local formation, working group, or national initiative

  • Maintain systems for tracking participation, engagement, and member progression in EveryAction and related tools

  • Manage the member intake pipeline from first contact through Street Team, squaDD, and leadership

  • Coordinate internal and external training opportunities for squaDDs and national members, including scheduling, logistics, and follow-up

Leadership Development

  • Maintain a clear picture of who the core leaders are across the organization and who needs support

  • Coordinate and execute a distributed 1:1 system with national members, pulling lists, assigning outreach

  • Identify emerging leaders and connect them to appropriate growth pathways

  • Maintain a regular meeting cadence with developing members

Campaign Infrastructure & Support

  • Support squaDDs local campaign refinement

  • Provide tools, templates, and guidance to strengthen campaign development across formations

  • Support the Organizing Director in identifying and bringing in external trainers to further develop our members’ skillset

  • Ensure campaigns across regions maintain strategic coherence and alignment with organizational priorities, pillars, and grand strategic objective.

Member Data & Systems Coordinator

  • Maintain and manage the organizational calendar to ensure events, programs, and actions are tracked and communicated across teams

  • Produce regular reports and dashboard summaries that surface progress, gaps, and resource needs to translate data into actionable insights for the organizing team

  • Support cross-team logistics and follow-up to ensure programs and actions translate into measurable recruitment, retention, and campaign advancement

Skills & Qualifications (need to tweak)

  • Strong orientation to volunteer leaders with the ability to recruit and develop leaders over time, as well as build and manage volunteer teams

  • An ideal candidate will have had experiences with neighborhood teams, or local campaign building

  • Strong communicator who is able to write resources, guides, slack posts, emails and other forms of communication with volunteer leaders

  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects, teams, etc at the same time

  • Experience with and ability to use multiple digital/distributed organizing tools and platforms (Every Action, Mobilize, AirTable, New/Mode, text and phone bank tools, etc)

  • Commitment to and demonstrated experience building a cross class, mutiracial movement

  • Commitment to the vision of the Freedom Papers
