We are seeking a highly-connected and strategic Communications Consultant based in Nevada. This is a part-time, fully remote, 1099 contract position. In this role, you will lead localized media efforts on behalf of a major environmental NGO client, focusing on advancing clean energy and water conservation policies and projects within Nevada. The ideal candidate is deeply embedded in the Nevada media landscape and has a proven track record of securing earned media and shaping public public relations strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Media Relations: Leverage your existing network of Nevada press contacts (print, digital, broadcast, and radio) to proactively pitch and secure earned media coverage.
Opportunity Identification: Monitor local and state news to identify strategic opportunities for media coverage regarding clean energy and water conservation policies and projects in Nevada.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Agave Strategy team, our client(s), and other partners to develop and execute comprehensive public relations campaigns that support specific political and policy objectives within the state.
Content Creation: Draft press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and talking points tailored to the Nevada media market and political landscape.
Advising: Provide on-the-ground insights and strategic counsel regarding Nevada’s political climate and how it intersects with environmental and conservation issues.
Qualifications:
Must be based in Nevada.
Demonstrated experience in public relations, political communications, journalism, or a closely related field.
Strong, pre-existing relationships with political, environmental, and local reporters/editors across Nevada.
Familiarity with clean energy initiatives, water conservation policy, and the environmental advocacy landscape in Nevada.
Ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fully remote environment.
Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required
