Operations Director

Our fast-paced, award-winning political media firm is hiring a full-time Operations Director to join our team. The Operations Director position is responsible for assessing, evolving, and developing firm-wide operations across four key departments: Finance & HR, Account Services, Media Buying, and Production. The Operations Director will be the driving force behind optimizing efficient workflows, assisting the A|L team in executing seamless project management, and building scalable systems that work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. This is a hands-on, strategic role ideal for someone who has successfully supported or managed operations at a creative agency or a high-growth start-up and who thrives in fast-paced, team-tasked environments.
Our firm is based in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C. This position is remote and open to candidates anywhere in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as an organizational leader, facilitating A|L Partners and senior leaders in making firmwide strategic decisions, advising on operational changes and third-party services, and leading the adoption of operational changes
Partner with department leads to reduce silos and improve cross-departmental operations across four key departments: Finance, Account Services, Media Buying, and Production
Conduct in-depth audits of internal processes to identify areas for improvement
Design, update, and/or implement cross-department workflows, standardize operating procedures, and develop reporting tools to support quality controls and consistency
Lead the company’s adoption of new support tools and processes (primarily via our flagship project management platform, Monday.com), develop and execute user trainings, and conduct regular quality controls to ensure workflow efficiencies and improvements
Create and deliver onboarding sessions to orient new team members on standardized workflows
Act as an internal consultant and coach to managers, supporting them in implementing operational improvements
Collaborate with an internal AI working group to help maintain and, where needed, evolve the company’s AI policies and protocols
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in operations, project management, and/or strategic planning roles, preferably within mission-driven, creative, start-up, or consulting environments
Exceptional organizational and facilitation skills with an ability to lead meetings and processes that drive clarity and outcomes
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
Flexible schedule and willingness to work late evenings and weekends, as needed, particularly approaching client deadlines and election dates
Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Business, Business Administration, or a relevant field
Certification in Monday.com or related project management software is a plus
Familiarity with and strong interest in Democratic politics at the local, state, and/or federal level is a plus
Experience in a growing creative agency or start-up is a plus
Benefits & Compensation
A salary range of $75,000-$100,000, depending on experience
401(k) with 3% employer contribution
