2025 Operations Director Job Description

 

Young voters in Michigan have the power to decide the future of our state. In recent elections, students have turned out in record numbers, proving that when they organize, they win. But participation isn’t automatic—students face hurdles, from navigating the registration process to overcoming disengagement from traditional political structures. That’s where we come in.

For Michigan is building an energetic and innovative program to activate student voters, ensuring they have the tools, confidence, and support to make their voices heard at the ballot box. But a powerful movement needs a strong foundation. We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented operations professional to help make it all happen—keeping our campaign running smoothly, efficiently, and effectively behind the scenes.

This role will begin in as soon as possible and run through November 2025 with the potential to extend your contract through 2026.

What Will You Do?

The Operations Director will be responsible for managing the operations and logistics of

our work in 2025. This senior level position will work closely with the State Director and outside compliance firm to maintain day-to-day logistics, including:

  • Assisting in maintaining the budget and ensuring all accounts are reconciled

  • Working with the compliance firm to manage onboarding of employees

  • Track spending, receipts and reimbursement requests for employees 

  • Managing all things HQ including procuring offices, monitoring supplies, and serving as the go-to for any needs

  • Prepare and execute all logistical needs to effectively implement our welcome week and GOTV plans 

  • Aid with specific event needs and assist with advancing events as necessary

  • Ensure logistical support for an expansive organizing program, including working with vendors, ordering merchandise and materials, completing regular supply audits, etc.

  • All other duties as assigned

 

Who Are You?

A successful candidate for this role will: 

  • Have 2+ years of experience in operations for a c3/c4 organization or political campaign.

  • Love creating systems, processes, and spreadsheets and have a knack for logistics.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of state and national compliance requirements.

  • Be scrappy and flexible; able to manage several tasks simultaneously.

  • Be a clear communicator and able to support senior staff in maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders.

  • Be a self-starter, exceptionally well-organized, and have strong time management skills.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position while driving or riding as a passenger in a motor vehicle because extensive statewide travel is necessary.

 

Job Details: The compensation for this role ranges from $6,250-$7,000/month commensurate with experience and includes a generous benefits package. This position is at-will, terminable at any time with or without cause.The position is in person based in Detroit, Michigan.
