JOB DESCRIPTION

Operations Manager — James for NY 2026

The Operations Manager keeps the campaign running smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule. The role blends executive support, project coordination, and operational management — making sure leadership stays focused, meetings actually get things done, projects land on deadline, and the campaign's people, systems, and logistics run without friction.

Responsibilities

  • Executive support — Be the right hand to the Campaign Manager and the rest of the leadership team, handling whatever it takes to keep them focused and moving.

  • Scheduling — Own the leadership team's calendars, plan for daily needs, and protect time for the work that matters most.

  • Triage incoming requests — Field incoming invitations and requests for the candidate's time, dig up the details needed to weigh them (the event, the audience, the timing, the request), email organizers to nail down specifics, and tee up decisions for leadership.

  • Meetings — Run the regular senior leadership meetings: build agendas that are focused and prioritized, prep everyone beforehand, handle the logistics, and chase down the follow-ups.

  • Project follow-through — Help leadership move projects, decisions, and recommendations to the finish line, and make sure the results get communicated clearly to the whole staff.

  • Briefings — Pull together research, briefings, and memos for campaign leadership and the candidate.

  • Communication — Keep information flowing cleanly between the Campaign Manager, the leadership team, department heads, and outside partners.

  • Headquarters operations — Keep HQ running day to day: supplies, equipment, facilities, booking rooms and meeting space, and managing vendors.

  • Onboarding & offboarding — Get new staff set up with equipment and systems access, and handle the same in reverse when people leave.

  • Systems — Maintain and improve the tools, systems, and shared docs the team relies on.

  • Juggling — Prioritize competing demands and follow through, proactively and fast, often under deadline pressure.

  • Whatever else comes up — Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1-3 years of experience in operations, executive support, project management, or campaign/political/nonprofit operations.

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with a proven ability to juggle competing priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • High level of discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.

  • Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace).

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the campaign.

  • Prior experience on a political campaign, in an advocacy organization, or in a government office.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $7,500/month base salary.

  • $1,000/month healthcare stipend.

  • Full-time position through the November 2026 general election.
