Ship Creek Group (SCG) specializes in projects with clear end goals that require multiple competencies, including local campaigns, ballot initiatives, and marketing for nonprofits. We are a one-stop-shop, our work ranges from coordinating a candidate’s schedule, to rebranding local nonprofits and small businesses, to shooting and producing professional TV commercials. Position summary

We are looking for someone who is an energetic self-starter, highly organized and detail-oriented, able to prioritize effectively across short- and long-term needs, with a commitment to Alaska's future. The Operations Manager will be responsible for supporting the backbone of the company – they will serve as a resource to staff on administrative policies and practice, and as a thought partner on building internal team culture and systems to optimize for growth. Primary duties include maintaining SCG’s internal organization systems and communication channels, writing and executing contracts, budget planning and event planning support. Duties & areas of activity

  • 50% Operations

  • Hold the team accountable to internal processes and best practices across all tools (Slack, Wrike, Google Suite), including research on emerging app features

  • Optimize the company’s short-term needs for our long-term growth strategy, with an eye toward sharp execution

  • Build team culture by inputting on team retreat agendas, planning team-wide gatherings, and thinking big-picture about the experience of being on SCG staff

  • Coordinate leadership and training opportunities

  • Monitor cross-team collaboration and look for ways to improve efficiencies 

 

  • 30% Administration

  • Maintain internal team calendar, communicate company-wide initiatives and events

  • Support recruitment efforts by posting job descriptions, coordinating interviews and reference checks, and onboarding

  • Write and execute client contracts and other internal paperwork 

 

  • 20% Finance

  • Coordinate with specialist teams to track paid media spending across multiple concurrent projects and campaigns

  • Maintain established system for tracking invoices from vendors

Desired qualifications

  • We are looking for a candidate with at least two of these three criteria:

  • Systems Management Experience - You are a hard worker, have exceptional organizational skills, and enjoy creating systems and processes

  • Campaign Experience - You’ve worked (or volunteered) for political campaigns in a logistics or operations capacity

  • Interpersonal Communication - You enjoy building relationships and have strong written and verbal communication skills. You’re able to distill complicated concepts or guidance into easy-to-understand instructions

 

  • Nice to have, but not required skills:

  • You are connected to Alaska and have some familiarity with the Alaskan political landscape

  • You’re fluent in Google Workspace, particularly Sheets, Docs & Drive and have experience with project management software

  • You thrive on campaign energy and are comfortable working long, irregular hours in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines

  • You’re scrappy, someone who enjoys thinking creatively and collaboratively to problem solve on the fly
