Organizer Intern (HYBRID PART-TIME)
Maya Kornberg’s Democratic campaign for New York City Council District 39 seeks a stipended Organizer Intern to play a crucial role in a dynamic field program in a Brooklyn-based district that includes the neighborhoods of Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, Borough Park, Gowanus, Kensington, and the Columbia Waterfront. Maya is a mom, educator, and advocate running to bring a results-driven progressive approach to City Hall. District 39 is one of the most closely watched Council races in the city.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for phone banking and canvassing
Building a strong volunteer base and understanding of the district, to help lead Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts for the June 24th primary election
Recruiting, training, and helping manage the volunteer Field Fellow program
Staffing the candidate while door-to-door canvassing
Providing daily and weekly reports of voter contact and volunteer recruitment metrics to the Field Director
Other duties as assigned
Ideal candidates will have some or all of the following:
A strong interest in electing results-driven progressive Democratic candidates
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced campaign environment
Be able to work in-person hours in-district on a regular basis (as needed)
A willingness to work irregular hours including some weekends
Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers is preferred but not required
Prior experience in New York City politics is preferred but not required
This is a part-time hybrid stipended internship based in Brooklyn, NY and runs through the June 24th primary election. A $200 per week ($800 monthly) stipend will be provided.
