The Iowa Democratic Party is seeking an organizer to join our Iowa First Congressional District field operation for the rest of the 2024 cycle. Working with Christina Bohannan for Congress, IA-01 is a highly targeted race and is one of the top challenger races in the country. In 2020 the Democratic candidate lost by six votes.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Manage and execute a direct voter contact program, including phone banking, text banking, canvassing, and relational organizing
Identify, recruit, train and retain a diverse group of volunteers from across the first district based on metric-driven goals to:
Continue to identify volunteer prospects and strong supporters
Create a positive volunteer experience that engages new people in the volunteer process and keeps people engaged throughout the cycle
Organize a variety of events, in person and virtually
Engage with key local Democratic county parties, organizations, and community leaders
Perform other duties as needed
Job Requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
Commitment to establishing a culture of respect and community within our campaign
Familiarity with VAN a plus
Ability to work independently and as a cohesive member of a team in a fast paced, metrics-driven work environment
Ability to track and report data in a timely, consistent, and accurate manner
Great organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
Must have access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, computer, cell phone and be willing to relocate to Iowa
