JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Research Collaborative seeks a talented, agile organizer for a short-term contract to drive partner participation and engagement in “Freedom Over Fascism” online movement briefings. In this role, you will support efforts to increase webinar registration and attendance by utilizing distributed and digital organizing tactics. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will tap into progressive networks and collaborate closely with volunteers to ensure the right people are in the room to operationalize RC’s data-driven strategy and messaging guidance — and ensure the progressive movement is singing from the same songbook in a critical moment. This temporary, fast-paced position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a highly respected research and narrative hub working at the heart of the progressive, pro-democracy ecosystem.

Organizational** Background**

Following our success in supporting the pro-democracy movement through the 2020 election crisis, Research Collaborative has become a trusted research, strategy, and messaging hub for national and state organizations across the progressive ecosystem. We generate and disseminate research, narrative guidance, and strategic approaches to protect our freedoms and address the pressing crises of the day, fostering narrative alignment across the pro-democracy space. We maintain a deliberately low profile, which allows us to promote collaboration and buy-in from partners.

The Role

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Work with a manager with extensive organizing and political campaign experience.

  • Informal on-boarding and minimal training, with an expectation of jumping into a fast-paced environment, being flexible, and leaning on prior organizing experience to help recruit for RC events.

  • Join a highly collaborative team that moves and adapts quickly to current events, particularly surrounding the upcoming general election.

  • Provide critical assistance to an organization juggling many priorities, with well-established systems and programs in place.

Tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Writing, sending, and responding to outreach emails to recruit new email subscribers.

  • Joining and posting to progressive email lists, Facebook groups, and Slack spaces to recruit new webinar attendees.

  • Following up with new webinar registrants who haven’t opted in as subscribers.

  • Managing volunteers in their recruitment efforts through Slack, email, and one-on-one meetings.

  • Completing administrative tasks needed for the RC Program team, such as responding to info@ emails and helping to run Zoom webinars.

We strive to provide a supportive and joyful work environment that strikes a balance between individual and organizational needs — but flexibility is key. While a number of staff are located in the Washington, DC area, we’re a fully remote operation and can hire from any geographic location.

Required Experience

  • 1-2 years of organizing experience in volunteer or staff positions on campus, with a political campaign, grassroots operation, or nonprofit.

Compensation and Duration

  • This temporary position will pay $25/hour and require a commitment of 30-35 hours per week, starting ASAP and ending November 29, 2024.
