JOB DESCRIPTION

North Carolina is home to over 560,000 college students across over 100 college campuses, including 10 HBCUs. Young voters have the numbers and the power to shape the future of our state through leadership in the electoral process. And in a state like North Carolina, even a small increase in student voter turnout could shape our state for years to come.

That’s why we’re building ** Rally NC** - an entrepreneurial and innovative operation to protect and expand democracy by elevating youth leadership across the state in order to empower thousands of college students to take control of their futures, get organized, and vote in the 2024 elections. We're done waiting for change. We're ready to make it happen.

Rally NC is part of a collection of state-based organizations working to mobilize student voters through creative, student-driven tactics. The North Carolina organization will build on work done by similar teams in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

What Will You Do?

Rally NC is looking for an Organizing Director who understands that the strongest teams empower leadership at every level. In 2024, we will run an organizing program committed to achieving ambitious goals while building student leadership into every part of our program.

The Organizing Director will be responsible for leading and managing the organizing team for Rally NC’s 2024 campaign. This senior-level position will work closely with the State Director to:

  • Lead the Organizing Department, including hiring and managing all organizing staff

  • Develop the skills and leadership of all organizing staff–from students to managers

  • In partnership with the State Director, develop and implement an aggressive field plan, including an emphasis on voter registration, voter education, digital organizing, relational organizing, and direct service work

  • Plan and execute major mobilizations, including Welcome Weeks, voter registration weekends of action, GOTEV (Get Out the Early Vote), GOTV, and special events

  • In partnership with the Data Director and State Director, ensure that we are reaching every young person in our target universe through tight data integrity, creative tactics, and strong coaching

  • All other duties as assigned

Who Are You?

A successful candidate for this role will have:

  • At least three cycles of campaign experience, ideally at least one in campus organizing and two in a management role

  • Experience managing multiple staff who each oversee their own staff; i.e. you’ve been a manager of staff managers

  • Experience developing and running in-person and virtual organizing trainings

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, responsiveness, and a passion for the work

  • Proficiency with VAN, including setting up and using MiniVAN and Virtual Phone Banks as both a user and administrator

  • Intermediate experience with Google Sheets is strongly preferred

Job Details: Compensation for this role is $7,000 per month and includes benefits. This is a full time role with an immediate start date (if applicable).
