JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

JoAnna Mendoza for Congress is hiring a full-time Organizing Director to join the Mendoza for Congress team. The Organizing Director will be responsible for overseeing all organizing and direct voter outreach programming. The Organizing Director will need to develop strategic goals and work campaign hours to ensure a successful re-election campaign. The Organizing Director will work in close coordination with, and report directly to, the Campaign Manager.

 

Campaign Overview

JoAnna “Jo” Mendoza is running for Congress against one of the most vulnerable incumbents in the country. This district is a designated red to blue race, it has a unique demographic composition, and represents one of the largest metro areas in Arizona, while also encompassing suburban and rural areas.

 

JoAnna is a single mom, Latina, and Marine Corps veteran of 20 years. She is a longstanding member of the community with deep roots throughout the district. Jo is running to restore servant leadership in Congress, fight to lower prices, and bring a voice for working families for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District! She will bring real, grounded, and authentic leadership to Washington.

 

Responsibilities

● Develop and execute a field plan with clear goals, projections, and a path to victory

● Hire, train, and manage a team of field organizers, interns, and volunteers

● Develop metrics and systems to track volunteer recruitment, management, direct voter contact, and other campaign priorities

● Update and maintain volunteer databases

● Support and grow a base of volunteer leaders in organizing community outreach, educational events, and voter turnout efforts

● Serve as a point of contact for volunteers and campaign supporters

● Plan, coordinate, and staff organizing/field events

● Communicate with volunteers about upcoming events

● Develop and manage the delivery of voter contact materials

● Keep field staff responsible for direct voter contact goals

● Build a positive team culture and keep staff motivated to achieve direct voter contact goals

● Other duties as assigned by the campaign manager or candidate

 

Qualifications

● 2+ cycles of campaign organizing experience, including 1 cycle of staff management experience, is strongly preferred.

● Prior experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers on electoral or issue campaigns in a paid staff capacity is required.

● Proficiency in VAN Google Docs, and MobilizeAmerica.

● Familiarity with peer-to-peer texting, relational, and dialer tools.

● Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers.

● Strong ability to build relationships and foster a positive team culture.

● Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

● Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure and problem solve effectively and creatively.

● Willingness to work long and unpredictable hours, including evenings and weekends

● Must be located in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District or be willing to relocate to the area

● Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a car required

 

This is a full-time position based in Tucson, AZ, and the ability to work remotely will not be available. This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign, including a high likelihood of evening and weekend work throughout the election cycle. The anticipated start date is August 1st, 2026 and employment will last through November 30th, 2026.
