Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, execution, and growth of FWAD's organizing program, to help FWAD establish a large, influential presence across the federal workforce
Develop and drive strategic campaigns to empower federal workers to respond to illegal orders, in close collaboration with FWAD's leadership team and Agency Group (AG) Organizers
Identify, recruit, and develop AG organizers, providing ongoing coaching, support, and leadership development resources to build a skilled, resilient network of grassroots leaders
Facilitate monthly interagency coordination calls with AG organizers to plan and implement interagency campaigns, share best practices, and discuss challenges
Work with the Operations and Infrastructure team to develop a standardized onboarding process and engagement program for new members (one-on-ones, welcome packets, orientation sessions, etc.)
Work closely with the Training team to support delivery of "How to Organize" and "How to Respond to Illegal Orders" trainings and developing trainers in order to scale FWAD's training program
Build and manage relationships with key national organizations, representing FWAD in relevant coalition spaces and coordinating with partners where appropriate
Establish systems for tracking and reporting of organizing program goals and outcomes
Provide fundraising support to the Executive Director and Deputy Director by translating organizing successes into compelling grant narratives and donor updates
Qualifications:
3-5 years of relevant experience in community organizing, labor-organizing, or movement work. This role is ideal for someone who has served as a Regional or Deputy Organizing Director
Experience developing the skills and capacity of volunteer/member leaders of community organizations or labor unions
Experience in creating and running strong campaigns based on detailed power analysis
Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate trainings and translate complex issues into practical guidance for volunteer leaders
Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and clearly with wide audiences in high-stakes environments
Experience building and maintaining internal systems, program management workflows, and documentation to support program adoption and growth
Exceptional organizational and project management skills; proven ability to juggle multiple streams of work, prioritize under pressure, and digest messy information into clear, actionable communications
Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where conditions on the ground can change quickly
A deep commitment to social justice, inclusive organizing practices, confidentiality, and responsible handling of sensitive information
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with the federal workforce including employment laws, whistleblower protections, and the unique constraints of government agencies
Demonstrated knowledge of noncooperation strategies and tactics, especially as a tool for resisting authoritarianism
Understanding and experience operating in 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities
