JOB DESCRIPTION

Cooke for Congress is seeking an Organizing Director to serve as the campaign’s point of contact for on the ground volunteers, supporters and organizations. They will be responsible for directing the day-to-day organizing operations for the August 9th congressional primary election campaign. The Organizing Director is responsible for building, planning and executing the campaign field plan, managing field staff, and all quantitative and qualitative field metrics. The Organizing Director is also responsible for opening offices/staging locations and oversight of the district’s organizing budget. They are the main point of contact for all data in the district

 

 

Responsibilities include:

- Direct the day-to-day organizing operations for the campaign

- Execute nomination papers collection plan

- Develop and implement the organizing plan

- Oversee volunteer activities

- Hire and manage organizing staff

- Assist in planning and execution of district tour

- Foster inclusive team culture

- Other department responsibilities as needed

 

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Have at least two cycles of field/organizing experience or comparable political or advocacy experience

- Commitment and understanding of relational organizing and deep canvassing efforts

- Experience working in Wisconsin politics or ties to Wisconsin preferred

- Basic understanding of targeting and organizing metrics

- Experience recruiting, hiring, training and managing a team or volunteers

- Commitment to establishing a culture of respect and community

- Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers

- Current driver’s license and access to a car

- Access to a computer and cell phone

- Proficiency in VAN, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs

- Extremely strong staff management skills

- Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence - the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways 

- Have a personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

- A positive, team-oriented attitude

- Time management skills are a must

- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends

 

Compensation: $4,500/month and health care stipend if desired.
