JOB DESCRIPTION

Stop the Ban (STB) is a statewide coalition of organizations and concerned citizens working to defeat a Constitutional Amendment that would overturn the reproductive freedom ballot measure passed in 2024. The proposed ban addresses multiple unrelated subjects, banning abortion and health care for transgender youth as well as changing court processes designed to make it harder to protect reproductive freedom.

 

The Organizing Director will report to the Campaign Manager. They will be responsible for all aspects of the campaign’s field and organizing programs. STB seeks to run this campaign in a way that not only leads us to victory but also builds long-term grassroots power and infrastructure in Missouri. STB welcomes applications from both individual professionals and firms capable of fulfilling the responsibilities outlined below.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive field and organizing plans, including clear goals, timelines, and metrics for success. 

  • Collaborate with campaign staff in development of statewide organizing plan that interacts with other communications and digital plans.

  • Grassroots Mobilization:

  • Develop and implement effective online and offline grassroots mobilization strategies to engage community members, activists, and leaders.

  • Organize and lead community events, rallies, town hall meetings, and other public gatherings to build visibility and public support.

  • Build relationships with partner organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders to maximize collective impact.

  • Manage field vendors contracted to conduct outreach on behalf of the campaign. 

  • Coalition Management:

  • Manage and facilitate the Organizing Committee.

  • Collaborate with coalition members to develop joint strategies, coordinate actions, and leverage collective resources.

  • Provide direct support to keep coalition members informed, engaged, and working toward shared goals.

  • Ensure coalition organizations are up to date about campaign finance requirements related to organizing in alignment with the campaign.

  • Volunteer Management:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a network of volunteers to support campaign activities.

  • Provide clear guidance, ongoing support, and motivation to ensure volunteer success and retention.

  • Maintain consistent communication and foster a strong sense of community among volunteers.

  • Recruit a speakers bureau of storytellers while building and maintaining strong relationships with storytellers and organizations to which they may be connected. 

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and evaluate data related to organizing efforts and volunteer engagement.

  • Prepare reports detailing the impact of organizing activities, including progress achieved, challenges faced, and recommendations for improvement.

  • Prepare an end of campaign report on the field and organizing programs, including evaluation and reporting of metrics, lessons learned, and strategies to further build the movement for reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy in Missouri.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • At least 3 years experience working in organizing; experience cultivating and executing a statewide organizing strategy.

  • Collaborative spirit, a willingness and ability to work with a team to reach goals together.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Detail-oriented, with exceptional organizational and project management skills.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and learn quickly.

  • Proficient in utilizing organizing and communication software, including CRM systems and digital organizing tools.

  • Commitment to anti-racism, accessible abortion services, reproductive freedom, and the liberation of the entire LGBTQ+ community from discrimination and oppression.

  • Missouri ties and knowledge of Missouri’s political landscape and players strongly preferred.
