Background 

Val Hoyle is the Congresswoman for Oregon’s 4th District seeking re-election. She will always fight to protect the right to an abortion and has fought for workers’ rights tirelessly—investing in and lifting up jobs and apprenticeships while in the State House, as Labor Commissioner, and now in Congress. Her experience means that she understands the struggles working Oregonians face and knows how to work across the aisle get things done.

 

Job Responsibilities 

The Organizing Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the field program. Responsibilities are, but not limited to: 

 

  • Work with the Campaign Manager to develop, manage, and execute an in-district organizing plan to turn out Democratic voters.

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of staff and volunteers to build up a strong volunteer program, conduct voter contact, and host events.

  • Develop strong relationships with local party leaders, grassroots organizers, and key activists.

  • Coordinate regularly with congressional campaign leadership so that the organizing program is supported by and integrated into the overall campaign strategy.

  • Build and implement systems and structures to lead organizers to successfully meet daily, weekly, and phase goals for capacity building and voter contact, as well as maintain data integrity.

  • Other department responsibilities as needed.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ cycles of organizing experience or comparable political or advocacy experience. At least one cycle overseeing and executing a large volunteer-driven field program

  • Other department responsibilities as needed.

  • Proficiency with organizing technology including VAN, Mobilize, and Google Docs/Sheets. Familiarity with peer-to-peer texting, relational, and dialer tools.

  • Experience recruiting, developing, training, and empowering volunteers.

  • Strong ability to build relationships and foster a positive team culture.

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure and problem-solve effectively and creatively.

  • Focused self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration 

  • Ideal candidate will be energetic and task-oriented with strong work ethic and positive attitude 

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines; communicate well with others and maintain a professional demeanor
