JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Parks Connector for the Lexington Parks Sustainable Funding campaign, you will play a crucial role in enhancing community visibility and engagement at public events. Your primary objective will be to gather volunteer sign-ups and commit-to-vote cards from attendees at these events.

Responsibilities:

Community Engagement and Visibility:

  • Attend and host informational tables at least five community events per week, increasing visibility and awareness of the park's funding ballot referendum.

  • Utilize promotional materials and engagement strategies to captivate and inform attendees.

  • Distribute and collect commit-to-vote cards and volunteer sign-up sheets at events.

Volunteer Recruitment and Coordination:

  • Actively recruit and sign up at least 10-15 new volunteer sign ups per week through community events, presentations, and outreach efforts like tabling and visibility.

  • Coordinate with the Lead Connector to ensure new volunteers are integrated into the campaign and engaged in educational activities.

Education Kit Utilization:

  • Master the contents of the campaign’s action kit, including talking points, one-pagers, and sample social media posts.

  • Train and empower volunteers to use these materials effectively in their own community education efforts.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in community organizing, community education, political campaigning, or a related field.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders and community members.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Passionate about public spaces and community development, with a keen understanding of local issues affecting local communities.

  • Proficiency in social media and digital communication tools.

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to attend community events and meetings.
