Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Political Consultant to support our partners utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects. The ideal candidate will specialize in power mapping and stakeholder outreach and engagement strategies, with a focus on identifying and aligning supportive stakeholders to mitigate permitting risk in project communities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive power mapping strategies for renewable energy projects.
Design and execute stakeholder engagement plans to build support for wind, solar, and storage initiatives.
Identify key influencers and decision-makers within project communities and develop strategies to engage them effectively.
Conduct thorough research on local political landscapes, community dynamics, and potential opposition to renewable energy projects.
Create and maintain databases of stakeholders, including their positions, influence, and relationships.
Develop targeted messaging and communication strategies to address community concerns and highlight project benefits.
Identify opportunities for community meetings, focus groups, and other engagement events.
Analyze local policies, regulations, and public sentiment related to renewable energy development.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in political consulting, community relations, or stakeholder engagement, preferably in the energy sector.
Proven track record in developing and implementing successful power mapping and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Understanding of renewable energy technologies and associated regulatory environments.
Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
Knowledge of local and state-level permitting processes for energy infrastructure.
Proficiency in GIS mapping software.
Timeline: 9 weeks (contract position)
