The Gina Hinojosa for Governor campaign is seeking a Political Director to help build, manage, and execute the campaign’s statewide political program. This role will be responsible for cultivating relationships across Texas’s political ecosystem, supporting coalition development, and ensuring strong coordination between campaign leadership, allies, and key stakeholders.
The Political Director will work closely with senior campaign staff to translate campaign strategy into effective political engagement on the ground, particularly in Texas’s largest and most influential counties.

Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong relationships with party leaders, elected officials, community leaders, and allied organizations across Texas
Support the development and maintenance of systems to track political relationships, priorities, and follow-ups
Serve as an internal point of coordination for political outreach and engagement efforts
Support political planning with a focus on high-priority counties and regions
Help identify political opportunities and challenges in major metro areas and emerging regions
Coordinate with campaign leadership to ensure political outreach aligns with overall campaign goals
Assist with scheduling and preparing for political meetings during statewide travel
Draft concise briefing materials for the candidate and senior staff ahead of key engagements
Ensure timely follow-up with stakeholders after meetings and events
Assist in identifying and engaging potential surrogates, endorsers, and coalition partners
Help prepare surrogates and allies with campaign-aligned messaging and materials
Support endorsement outreach efforts, including relationships with Democratic clubs, labor unions, and issue-based organizations
Contribute to coalition-building efforts before and after the primary
Qualifications
Minimum three cycles prior experience working on political campaigns or five years political experience, with statewide or large-scale races preferred
Strong understanding of Texas Democratic politics and party infrastructure
Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure campaign environment
Willingness to travel extensively and work evenings and weekends as required
Preferred Experience
Experience with coalition-building, endorsements, or political outreach
Familiarity with labor, grassroots, and grasstop political organizations
Experience preparing candidates or principals for meetings and events
