Data for Progress is hiring a polling analyst to help expand our mission to empower movements using data. As a polling analyst, you’ll spend your days writing survey questions, analyzing data, and crafting polling memos. You’ll work closely with our polling team to run tests and prepare data products for the progressive movement.
Required Qualifications
At least 1-2 years of public opinion, market research, or survey research experience (this may include experience from internships and undergraduate or graduate research)
An understanding of how to turn data into actionable insights — not just crunching numbers, but telling the story behind them
Excellent written, operational, and organizational skills
Ability to juggle multiple priorities at a time and meet deadlines to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
Strong communications skills - you’ll be working with, designing project plans for, and presenting to both internal and external partners
Interest in and desire to learn the steps involved in writing, coding, and fielding surveys using tools like Qualtrics
A team-player attitude — we’re a small, tight-knit team, and every person contributes to our organizational success
Desired but not Required Qualifications
General understanding of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizational structures
Some familiarity with SQL / R / Python or similar coding languages
Some familiarity or experience with focus group research
Keen interest in topics related to energy and the environment
A day in the life of a Polling Analyst might entail:
Collaborating with teammates to develop a survey questionnaire
Interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to deliver updates on ongoing projects
Analyzing data and processing survey results
Turning polling results into written deliverables, such as written memos and slide decks
Developing your own survey questions to conduct internal research projects on timely issues and events
Compensation
$60k-$70k
This is a full-time staff position. Data for Progress staff are proudly unionized with the Campaign Workers Guild, and this position will be within the bargaining unit.
