The Opportunity
The Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League (MWUL), an Affiliate of the National Urban League (NUL), seeks a dynamic and visionary President and Chief Executive Officer (President/CEO) to lead the organization into its next chapter of impact.
This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Delaware’s most respected civil rights and social service institutions — serving 70,898 residents in the City of Wilmington and 989,948 residents statewide (2020 U.S. Census).
The President/CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for advancing MWUL’s strategic vision, strengthening organizational operations, and elevating the organization’s impact and influence in alignment with the National Urban League movement.

The Next Leader
The President/CEO will be both visionary and operator — capable of advancing mission while strengthening internal systems and external partnerships.
Strategic & Executive Leadership
Develop, articulate, and communicate MWUL’s vision
Lead short- and long-range planning
Translate priorities into disciplined action plans
Partner with the Board Chair to generate and execute new ideas
Organizational & Operational Management
Direct day-to-day operations
Implement and administer MWUL policies and procedures
Evaluate programs and services
Ensure fiscal stewardship and sustainable growth
Governance & Board Partnership
Report to and collaborate closely with the Board of Directors
Demonstrate experience working with volunteer boards
Serve as principal spokesperson for the organization
Community & Public Leadership
Maintain relationships with staff, political leaders, corporate partners, and community stakeholders
Engage in dialogue across race, gender, sexual orientation, economic, and other differences
Stay abreast of issues impacting the African-American and minority community
Advance advocacy and public education efforts
