The Nevada State Democratic Party is seeking a talented and motivated Press Secretary to support the communications department for Nevada’s critical 2026 election cycle.
Role Overview
The Press Secretary will report to NV Dems Senior Advisor on day-to-day operations relating to holding the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress accountable for their billionaires-first agenda as well as lifting up the accomplishments of downballot Democrats. This role will act as a spokesperson for the state party, work with the local press corps, support media monitoring, and overall, lift up and shape our party’s narrative. This job is based in Las Vegas, Nevada and does involve some travel across the state.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Including, but not limited to:
Acting as an on the record spokesperson for NV Dems
Working with local and national reporters to land stories and shape coverage
Drafting talking points, op-eds, memos, press releases, and media advisories
Working with surrogates and stakeholders to share our message across communities
Executing and supporting press events
Leading rapid response as opportunities arise
Staffing NV Dems Chair at open press events and media interviews
Maintaining the press list and monitoring incoming press inquiries
Required Qualifications:
Previous communications experience
Excellent writing skills and understanding of NV Dems’ message
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to operate cross-departmentally and with outside organizations
A passion for electing Democrats up and down the ticket
Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license
Ability to move to Las Vegas, Nevada by May 18th, 2026
Preferred Background and Experience:
Nevada ties
Ability to speak and write in Spanish
Previous statewide campaign experience
