JOB DESCRIPTION

A Democratic gubernatorial campaign is seeking a Press Secretary for the 2026 election cycle in the battleground state of Wisconsin. The Press Secretary will be a key member of the communications department, and they will work directly with the principal WI press corps. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members of the WI press corps, serving as the primary point of contact for in-state media

  • Accompany and advise the candidate on the campaign trail, providing direct strategic support 

  • Coordinate and execute campaign media events, including planning logistics, preparing materials, and staffing the candidate and surrogates

  • Draft and edit press releases, talking points, memos, and other internal and external communications materials to advance the campaign’s message

  • Proactively pitch interviews and stories to highlight the campaign’s message and priorities

  • Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson representing the campaign 

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the campaign

 

Qualifications: 

  • At least two cycles of experience in campaign-based communications work, or an equivalent

  • Experience and comfort working directly with reporters

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Organizational skills that allow you to multitask and prioritize projects on a deadline
