JOB DESCRIPTION

Queen for Queens – New York State Assembly, District 32

Queen Johnson’s campaign for State Assembly in AD-32 is seeking a politically sharp, disciplined Campaign Manager to lead a serious grassroots operation in Southeast Queens.

This is not a symbolic race. This is an open seat in a district where relationships, turnout, coalition-building, and field execution will determine the outcome. The Campaign Manager will serve as the senior political lead responsible for building and executing a clear path to victory in a multi-candidate Democratic primary.

The position begins immediately and will run through the June 2026 primary, with the possibility of continuing through the general election.

Core Responsibilities

Political Strategy & Targeting

Develop and manage the overall political plan — including voter targeting, coalition outreach, endorsement strategy, and turnout modeling.

Field & Petitioning Program

Design and execute a disciplined field program, including petition strategy, volunteer recruitment, door operations, phone outreach, and GOTV. Build infrastructure that can compete in high-density areas like across Southeast Queens.

Fundraising & Compliance

Work closely with the finance team to ensure the campaign hits in-district thresholds and maximizes public matching funds. Maintain strict compliance with New York State campaign finance law.

Campaign Operations

Oversee daily campaign functions, manage staff and consultants, monitor the budget, and keep timelines on track. Ensure all departments are aligned around measurable goals.

Candidate Preparation & Political Guidance

Serve as the candidate’s senior advisor on political decisions, scheduling priorities, debate preparation, and stakeholder engagement. Help navigate relationships with clubs, unions, advocacy organizations, and community leaders.

Communications Coordination

Ensure the campaign’s message on affordability, housing stability, childcare, and economic justice is clear, consistent, and disciplined across digital, mail, and earned media.

Qualifications

  • Experience working on competitive Democratic primaries, preferably in NYC or New York State

  • Strong understanding of voter file strategy and turnout-based campaigns

  • Ability to manage both grassroots energy and political relationships

  • Experience with petitioning, matching funds, and compliance requirements in NYS

  • Strategic thinker who can operate independently and under pressure

  • Deep respect for community-based organizing
