Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as a Rapid Response Manager for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator.
Role Overview:
The Rapid Response Manager is responsible for tracking breaking news and developing rapid response communications in close collaboration with the Communications Director. This will be a full time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, although there is flexibility with remote work and a relocation timeline. This position offers compensation in the form of a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.
Responsibilities:
● Draft written work (e.g. statements, social media copy) on tight deadlines
● Monitor news outlets, new media platforms, and social media channels
● Track federal and statewide political developments
● Provide real-time updates to key staff during breaking news events
● Internalize campaign core message and candidate voice
● Collaborate closely with Communications and Digital departments
● Other campaign needs as required
Qualifications (Required):
● Excellent understanding of political media landscape, news cycle, and online environments
● Ability to operate at a high level under tight deadlines and stressful situations
● Experience producing high-quality public-facing written materials
● A minimum of 1 year of work experience in campaigns, government, communications, or a similar field required
● Must have transportation to attend events as needed
● Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive
● Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.
● Superior written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions
● Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail
● Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate
● Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways

Qualifications (Preferred):
● Media relations or journalism background is a plus
● Social media management background is a plus
● Existing relationships with journalists, political organizations, or labor is a plus
● Previous experience working in Michigan is a significant plus
