Regional Field Organizer Job Description: 

 

About the candidate and the job:

Neil Khot is a first-generation immigrant running for Congress to bring solutions that can help restore the values on which the American Dream was established. He is not a career politician and wants to give a voice to all the communities that comprise the Illinois 8th Congressional District. 

 

We are building a people based movement and we are hiring multiple regional field organizers to join our team. This is an in person in-district role and it will require work the assigned organizing turf within the district. Position Overview:

 

Regional Field organizers will work directly with the Deputy Campaign Manager to execute the campaign’s field plan, to manage volunteer recruitment and retention, and to conduct Direct Voter Contact. 

 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Responsible for overseeing a specific region, local organizing staff, paid and/or volunteer, as well as executing strategies and tactics that ensure the implementation of varying campaign and field plans.

  • Part of the role is assisting in the training and skills development, strategies, and tactics of employees for the campaign. This includes operations and logistics for the organization, as well as specific work for voter targeting, voter registration, data management, and basic analytics.

  • Regional Field organizers will manage volunteers who will be conducting direct voter contact and collecting petitions for having the candidate on the ballot. 

  • Regional Field organizers will be responsible for entering data into VAN and reviewing it to make sure it is accurate. 

  • Regional Field organizers will manage the peer to peer campaigning tools in order to escalate volunteers into active ones. 

  • Helping to execute grassroots programs both online and in-person

  • Regional Field Organizers will be required to do Direct Voter Contact either through canvassing or phone banking. 

  • Working with community members and organizations as needed

  • Provide input and feedback to “Neil for Congress” Staff, and members on grassroots campaign strategies and tactics in constructive, communal, and positive ways

  • Learning and managing the VAN (Voter Access Network) for field campaign work, universe management, and voter outreach, as well as managing basic field metrics, tracking, and training as needed while reporting to the Organizing Director

  • Plan for the training and skills development of paid field team members/vols, paid staff, and volunteers alike

  • Help build campaign-based coalitions around the campaign and issues, working with community groups, elected officials, a professional work setting, and political groups

  • All staff members will be expected to assist with other field positions as necessary, particularly prior to events or when a position is vacant

 

This person spends the majority of their time in the community with their teams both paid and volunteer, and helps uplift the “Neil for Congress” campaign in local communities in an effort to build large teams to accomplish all election-related goals, especially around GOTV efforts.

 

Employment Benefits

Salary of $3,500 a month, paid on the 1st and 15th. Sustainer Housing and Office Space Provided

Travel throughout Illinois 8th Congressional District and out-of-district/state trips when necessary and deemed available. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • At least one cycle of experience as a field organizer or equivalent position. 

  • Proficiency with VAN/L2 or PDI and other peer to peer organizing tools.

  • Dedication to meticulously tracking metrics and progress toward goal. 

  • Passion for thinking outside the box and organizing communities.

  • A good level of proficiency in Spanish and Hindi is a plus but not required.
