JOB DESCRIPTION

New Hampshire Youth Movement is looking for ** four** Regional Organizers to support our community organizing, leadership development, and Get-out-the-Vote efforts. This full time role is an opportunity to level up your existing organizing skills, mentor passionate student organizers, and be a critical leader in the movement to elect progressive champions in November. We are building a New Hampshire that works for everyone, and we need to build youth power to elect people who will stand up for issues like Affordable Housing, LGBTQ+ Rights, Climate Justice, Racial Justice, Reproductive Rights, and Public Education.

Role Overview

Regional Organizers will lead and execute fieldwork in a region of the state, traveling to strategic areas to pledge young people to vote. The main tactics include: tabling on college campuses and community events, planning events, knocking doors, and phone banking. You’ll focus on organizing college campuses in your region—supporting existing organizing efforts on campuses, and recruiting new student leaders. As the program grows, you’ll manage a small team of core leaders and other field organizing staff in your region, managing their fieldwork, helping out on the ground, holding them accountable to goals, and mentoring them through challenges.

New Hampshire Youth Movement is a movement of young people transforming our political system so it serves, and is led by, the people it’s left behind. We are an entirely youth-led, decentralized, intersectional, grassroots organization building and leveraging youth power in and outside of electoral organizing across NH.

Who you are

The ideal candidate is/has:

  • Excited to make New Hampshire a better place and build the political power of young people

  • Ready to go hard pledging young people to vote in their region to elect local progressive champions

  • Some past experience in traditional voter outreach tactics such as phone banking, canvassing, and texting either as a staff member or volunteer leader

  • Some past experience in organizing in general, can include things like issue, legislative, or electoral campaigns, planning direct actions or protests, or mutual aid, either as a staff member or volunteer leader

  • Friendly and outgoing; ready to meet new people, build relationships, and bring them into the work

  • Understanding of what is at stake for them in this election, and interested to learn what is at stake for others

What you’ll do

  • Work with a team to pledge thousands of people to vote to elect leaders who share our values

  • Field organizing, including tabling, door knocking, phone banking, relational organizing

  • Talk about issues like housing, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, the climate crisis, the economy, and voting rights

  • Spend time on campuses organizing college students

  • Travel throughout your region to key areas to do field work

  • Managing volunteers & student leaders, and eventually managing a staff field organizer

  • Organize rides to the polls programs and voter registration drives

  • Attend a series of onboarding trainings, and additional trainings as they come up, to learn skills

  • Uphold the NHYM principles in your work

Location

We are looking for organizers to work across New Hampshire. Some of the places that we plan on doing extensive work are Concord, Durham, Hanover, Keene, Littleton, Manchester, and Plymouth. Locations could be added as we fully build out our plans. Regional Organizers don’t need to live in one of these regions, but will need to be able to travel to one or more of these regions often.

Compensation & Commitment

This position is full time and salaried, compensated at $50,000/year equivalent salary for 40 hours/week on average and paid bi-weekly. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance at little or no cost; and paid time off. NHYM reimburses for mileage from travel.
