Background: Virginians for Reproductive Freedom (VRF) is a coalition of advocacy organizations who believe that all Virginians should be able to make decisions regarding their own reproductive healthcare, including abortion care, without government interference, and that no one should be faced with criminal punishment for making these decisions or providing healthcare.
Our goal is to pass a constitutional amendment in November 2026 by majority vote that guarantees reproductive freedom across Virginia.
**Job Description: **Regional Organizer(s) with the Virginians for Reproductive Freedom campaign are responsible for implementing regional electoral canvassing programs (doors, phones and events), engaging volunteers, and leading localized education and outreach efforts to support the campaign's goal of passing a constitutional amendment protecting the right to reproductive freedom in Virginia. Regional Organizers will work with the campaign’s Organizing Director to oversee and coordinate programming to mobilize communities, target voters, and foster public support for the campaign.
Candidates should have past experience leading organizing efforts with electoral or issue advocacy campaigns. In total, VRF will be hiring **three people **for this role, each responsible for a different region. All Regional Organizers will report to the campaign’s Organizing Director. This role is full-time, temporary, and extends through the end of November 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for meeting individual and team voter contact goals by executing campaign field plans, including personally engaging in direct voter outreach via doors, phones and events.
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support and scale voter contact programming.
Build relationships with partner organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders to ensure they are following the campaign’s guidance on canvassing and messaging, including scripting and universe.
Provide volunteer leaders and community partners with training, materials and on-the-ground help needed to host educational and outreach-focused events aligned with campaign initiatives.
Collaborate with coalition members to develop joint strategies, coordinate actions, and leverage collective resources.
Work to meet the overall goals of the organizing team as needed, including representing the campaign in the community and/or assisting on other facets of the campaign team.
Qualifications:
At least 2 years (or 1-2 previous election cycles) of experience in electoral and/or grassroots organizing.
Familiarity with NGP/VAN and dialer/SMS tools preferred.
Understanding of the reproductive rights, health, and justice movement(s).
Comfort working both independently when necessary and in coalition with other organizers and organizing teams.
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing campaign needs.
Knowledge of Virginia’s political landscape preferred.
Additional Requirements:
This position is based on-the-ground in Virginia — each RO will be responsible for a specific and reasonably-sized region.
Must be able to work remotely and have personal transportation to travel around your region as needed.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule — nights and weekends will be required at times.
Must be physically able to walk for extended periods (including during door-to-door canvassing), perform regular, in-person outreach efforts, and lift and carry materials as needed.
Compensation:
Salary of $5,000 per month
Health insurance stipend of $500 per month
Mileage reimbursement for campaign-related travel
