Who We Are

Moxie Media is a progressive political direct mail firm specializing in proven strategy and bold design.  Across the nation and at the top of our industry, we build power and expand opportunities for those who historically have been left out or left behind. We champion people of color, LGBTQ+ people, women, workers, veterans, our planet, democracy, and equity. Our team connects, inspires, and wins with four core values at heart:

  1. ** Competitive Edge:** We move the needle and win by continually honing our expertise.

  2. ** Inclusion:** We prize authenticity, reject cynicism, and embrace input from diverse stakeholders.

  3. ** Curiosity:** We trailblaze innovation, measure impact, and build trust through transparency.

  4. ** Wholeheartedness:** We put health and family first to enable joyful and accountable work.

Our clients have included Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, and organizations such as EMILYs List, End Citizens United, Human Rights Campaign, League of Conservation Voters, National Education Association, SEIU, and more. Moxie is a Black, Latina, and majority woman-owned and led firm.

Our Story

In 1999 Moxie became the first woman-founded direct mail firm in the country. Moxie’s founder, Lisa MacLean, came up in a world with very few women in positions of power in politics. It was difficult, if not impossible, to see a path to success within the establishment, so she forged her own way. Moxie was built to help women and people from all backgrounds make political impact and thrive in our industry.

Team Moxie started small, growing and establishing our firm by winning elections across the country at every level of the ballot, and differentiating as people who show up with integrity, strategic acumen, and creative innovation.

After twenty-five years, Moxie has secured its reputation as a top tier national mail firm — and made significant impact. We’ve helped elect more than 300 women and 100 candidates of color, and win 40 ballot initiative elections across the nation. We’re proud to have played a role in historic policy wins including marriage equality, higher minimum wage, and access to abortion, and are driven to make even greater impacts in our world.

The values that Moxie was founded on — building an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive — ground our work today and over the last decade have propelled our equity journey.

We have been learning, thinking, and talking – sometimes uncomfortably – about power, and making new investments in professional development, compensation policies, teambuilding, and ownership diversity to drive equity in our business. This transformation is imperfect but progressing, and helping make Moxie even more resilient, impactful, and aligned in its values and practices.

Moxie is also bound by its ongoing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work, done in partnership with organizations and individuals fighting for equity for underrepresented people. We are committed to accomplishing regular, measurable, and meaningful action to end systemic oppression, including racism, sexism, ageism, the oppression of LGBTQ+ persons, and the subjugation of people with physical or cognitive differences.

We seek professionals who desire careers in the political consulting industry, especially those driven to deepen expertise, build relationships, propel innovation, make progressive change, and win elections to expand power in U.S. politics.
