JOB DESCRIPTION

Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as an Senior Advance Manager for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator. 

 

Role Overview:

The Senior Advance Manager is responsible for coordinating and staffing Abdul El-Sayed’s presence at internal and external events. This includes advancing events, arriving on-site ahead of Abdul, developing and communicating plans for his arrival, participation, movement, and departure, and coordinating closely with security, campaign staff, and event partners to ensure his schedule and movements are executed smoothly.

 

This position will also lead the planning and execution of event builds, coordinating with relevant campaign departments and external partners to ensure all logistical, staffing, production, press, and venue needs are met. The Senior Advance Manager will play a key role in managing event flow, troubleshooting issues in real time, and ensuring events are executed efficiently and professionally.

 

This is a full-time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, with flexibility for remote work and a relocation timeline. The position offers a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advancing at events Abdul is attending and communicating relevant information to the team including speaking order, crowd size, parking, entrance, and notable figures

  • Build events including securing venues, coordinating with our political department to secure speakers, working with our operations team to secure any logistical needs such as insurance and payments

  • Staffing of surrogates

  • Leading events which includes directing staff and volunteers to manage crowd, time, press, and physical build of stage, room, and check-in.

  • Maintaining space in coordination with other staffers between Abdul and external interactions

  • Other campaign needs as required

  • Coordinating Abdul’s arrival, movement, and departure from events to ensure he stays on schedule and is able to efficiently transition between engagements

  • Managing event run-of-show and making real-time adjustments to keep events and Abdul on schedule

  • Coordinating with security, venue staff, press, and campaign teams to manage access, crowd flow, media placement, and Abdul’s movement throughout events

  • Conducting venue walkthroughs and developing plans for entrances, exits, stage setup, audience placement, press areas, speaker holding areas, and staff positioning

  • Anticipating and troubleshooting logistical issues during events, developing contingency plans, and communicating changes quickly to the appropriate members of the team

 

Qualifications (Required):

  • Ability to direct and communicate with different teams toward a common goal

  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in campaigns required

  • Must have transportation to attend events as needed

  • Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive 

  • Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions

  • Timeliness and urgency

  • Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail

  • Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Experience working in diverse communities

  • Understand of different cultural norms

  • Experience directing/staffing a principal is a significant plus

  • Previous experience working in Michigan is a significant plus
