ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN & CREATIVE SERVICES TEAM
The Campaign & Creative Services team is a leading Democratic political consulting firm with a record of winning tough races. We are a team of operatives, campaign managers and strategists and have an in-house creative studio that specializes in brand strategy, video production, copywriting and design. We serve as strategic and creative partners to our clients, helping them solve their biggest challenges and win races. Strategy and storytelling are at the heart of our craft. We develop our clients' message and deliver it to the right people with the right creative. We script, produce, edit and place TV, digital and radio ads in multiple states and markets and so much more.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
BerlinRosen is seeking an enthusiastic writer with natural talent and an interest in politics who can bring out the passion in our candidates with messaging that speaks to people’s hearts and minds. The ideal candidate is a true collaborator who is ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work writing compelling direct mail copy for multiple clients under tight deadlines.
Role duration: This is a temporary, full-time position that will run from April 1, 2024 through October 31, 2024.
**Role location: **This role is based in our New York, N.Y. or Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid basis. The Campaign & Creative Services team is in-office at least 2 days per week.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
As a Senior Copywriter & Editor on the Campaign & Creative Services team, you will...
Bring energy and excitement to our creative team
Manage multiple projects, overlapping timelines and tight deadlines effectively
Work collaboratively with creative and account teams to create cohesive and successful work
Interview clients to hear their voice and story (these interviews will inform your writing)
Think conceptually to translate complex political strategy into accessible creative concepts
Take the lead in team brainstorming sessions, offering creative ideas, copy and visuals that, when combined, communicate a cohesive story
Write clear, concise and compelling copy for a client’s direct mail programs that effectively communicates their message, resonates with audiences and inspires action
Provide guidance and feedback to other copywriters on the team, helping them to develop their skills and improve their work
Track the development of other copywriters’ work, ensuring they are meeting deadlines and incorporating feedback effectively
Copyedit drafts as well as designed pieces to ensure a cohesive and compelling narrative
Collaborate with copywriters to incorporate feedback and improve their work
Occasionally help on non-political work, such as branding projects or new business pitches
Work closely with the team’s Senior Vice President to ensure the team’s success and build an open, honest and judgment-free environment where every team member feels valued and empowered
Essential skills:
Previous experience in a copyediting capacity
Impeccable writing, spelling and grammar skills
Detail oriented with an eagle-eye for spotting typos and grammatical errors as well as the ability to quickly identify and correct inconsistent usage or style choices
Ability to convey feedback in a constructive and respectful way
Ability to motivate copywriters to improve their work
Aptitude for clear and concise writing and the ability to write and edit short-form copy that delivers a compelling message quickly (every word counts)
Flexibility to adapt creatively to the requirements of different clients and audiences
Power to think both creatively and strategically, independently and as part of a team
Ability to meet deadlines and keep track of multiple assignments at once in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work long hours and weekends during peak periods
